Craghoppers golf clothing review
I recently enjoyed a wonderful golfing day at La Canela in Spain.
This is a boutique hotel with two associated golf courses. Unlimited golf is available, allowing 36 holes plus if you are prepared for early starts and late finishes. Our group was!
Located in the Costa de la Luz area of Spain, it is most convenient to fly into Faro in Portugal and then undertake a transfer across the border by car into Spain.
The climate is that of the Algarve and the courses are positioned near to the Guadiana River in the southwest Andalusian corner by the mouth of the Carreras River that forms the natural border between Portugal and Spain.
We travelled in early March to enjoy the better climate. Having checked out reviews and guides it was clear that this time of year provides perfect conditions for flying insects and mosquitoes. Especially during the first light and early evenings.
Having unlimited golf, I decided to experience again the benefits of the most recent range of Craghoppers clothing.
What Can You Expect From Craghoppers Golf Clothing?

Since my previous review, new styles and colourways had been introduced and I acquired the following additional items:
- NL Goswick HZ Top in blue/navy
- NL Mock Neck top in white
- NL Avro polo top in grey and blue
- NL Santos Trousers in pebble colour
Each garment has a lifetime guarantee with a reuse, recycle and repair facility for all registered garments.
The fabrics have a UPF 50+ offering excellent protection against the sun's ray.
All have been treated with the insect repellent and odour elimination treatment that I knew would offer me excellent protection against flying insects. Having tried them successfully in the past I was confident it would suit my needs for the trip.
I love the styling of the trousers and they are a superb fit both on and off the course. The double pocket is a great feature with one side having a zip to secure important items. The left pocket houses another excellent feature that is a glasses wipe for use with sunglasses. This is such a useful item and I think it will be copied by other golf manufacturers. Whoever designed these trousers plays golf as they also have rear pockets of a perfect size for scorecards and gloves.
Does Craghoppers Golf Clothing Work?
Shortly into our trip my friends reported issues with mosquito bites, especially in the early morning and evenings. I am very happy to report that despite my known attraction to them I remained totally bite free.
The gear was so successful I even leant out items for a mate who was suffering terribly with bites on his arms and neck. He reported a similar level of success to mine.
I love this new gear and it will be coming with me on future trips when I know the climate suits our flying insect populations who love to dine on me.
The clothing is well cut and is comfortable to swing in and looks fashionable despite its hidden purpose.
I would recommend any of you to try them. I am now planning my next trip and also how to get my mate to return the undershirt that he wore so comfortably.
I wrote this piece on the final day of our trip. Most of my peers had suffered terribly with bites and I was feeling suitably smug at the effectiveness of the Craghoppers clothing I had taken with me. Despite me being a usual target for flying insects and their bites, I had been left completely alone.
These little beggars, however, had the last laugh.
I did not realise that the staff had left my room window slightly ajar during the day.
Having slept well and having had an excellent meal, with supporting wine, I awoke to find myself looking like a pomegranate as I had been devoured overnight by the critters who had clearly shared my bed and managed to feast upon my head and arms leaving red weals.
I could not believe what had happened but mentioned it to reinforce just how effective the gear had been during my trip.
