American Collin Morikawa birdied the final hole to claim the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am title for his first PGA Tour success in more than two years.

Having been two ahead with two to play, Morikawa’s lead evaporated when Australian Min Woo Lee birdied the 18th as Morikawa dropped a shot at the 17th.

The pair were tied at 21 under par and when Austrian Sepp Straka joined them it looked like there was going to be a play-off.

However, Morikawa had other ideas. After a 20-minute wait to hit his second shot as Jacob Bridgeman struggled up ahead, Morikawa found the green and then left himself a short putt to card a 67 and edge ahead to end his trophy drought.

He said: "It's special for a lot of reasons. I've put countless hours and nights - probably too many hours - thinking about golf. I kept believing in myself. Honestly, at the beginning of this week it didn't really feel like this was going to be possible."

Starting the day eight shots back, world number one Scottie Scheffler took the clubhouse lead at 20 under thanks to a nine-under round of 63 - a round that featured three eagles.

But two-time major winner Morikawa birdied the 15th and 16th to move to 22 under before his bogey at the short 17th.

Overnight leader Akshay Bhatia was unable to continue his push as a level-par 72 left him on 19 under.

England's Tommy Fleetwood had a late chance to get to 21 under, but left his eagle chip short at the last and he finished alongside Scheffler in fourth place.

Defending champion Rory McIlroy had eight birdies in a 64 - his best round of the tournament - as he finished on -17 alongside England's Matt Fitzpatrick.

McIlroy said: "All in all, some really good stuff this week. Pretty encouraged going into next week [Genesis Invitational] for sure."

Who is Collin Morikawa?

Collin Morikawa was born in Las Vegas on February 26, 1997. He is a former top-ranked amateur who played on the winning Arnold Palmer Cup team in 2017 and 2018 and the winning Walker Cup team in 2017.

He turned professional in 2019 and started his career by making 22 consecutive cuts, second only to Tiger Woods. He made his professional debut at the Canadian Open in 2019 and finished 14th. The following month he was second at the 3M Open and tied fourth at the John Deere Classic, securing his full playing rights.

In 2020 he won the Workday Charity Open and the PGA Championship in only his second start in a major. In 2021 he won the WGC-Workday Championship and then added The Open Championship at Royal St George’s. He finished in a tie for third at the Olympic Games and then claimed the DP World Tour Championship to become the first American to win the Race to Dubai.

In February 2022 he finished tied second at the Genesis Invitational. In January 2023, Morikawa held a six-shot lead after 54 holes of the Tournament of Champions but ended up finishing second behind Jon Rahm. He also lost the Rocket Mortgage Classic in a playoff to Rickie Fowler.

He had two near-misses in 2025, losing the Tournament of Champions to an inspired Hideki Matsuyama and the Arnold Palmer Invitational to an outrageous piece of good fortune by Russell Henley - a defeat that seemed to knock the stuffing out of him for the rest of the season.

This was Morikawa’s seventh victory in his 145th start. He has been runner-up 11 times, finished third twice and had 30 top-five finishes and 46 top 10s. He has failed to make the cut 23 times and has career earnings of $46.4m. He is ranked 5th in the world and is third in the FedEx Cup standings.

He averages 308 yards from the tee and hits 67.14% of fairways. He finds 75% of greens in regulation. He gets up and down from the sand 57.89% and averages 29.50 putts per round. His scoring average is 68.70 and he averages 4.90 birdies per round.
