At the 200th time of asking, Frenchman Adrien Saddier won his maiden DP World Tour title at the 2025 Italian Open, beating countryman Martin Couvra by two shots. He finished at 14-under-par, making five birdies in his last nine holes at Argentario Golf Club.

He finished four-under-par for the day, after a nervy front nine where he made two bogeys and one birdie.

In an emotional post-round interview, he said: "It's great. It's taken so much work to be able to do this. I'm just grateful. I started the back nine really good and I just said 'just stay in your own zone, just keep focused, make the putts'. And I did it."

Both Saddier and Couvra secured their places into the Open Championship at Royal Portrush next month, with the top two finishers given a special exemption into the year’s final major.

England’s Dan Bradbury recorded his second consecutive top-10 finishing in T3 at 10-under-par and was joined by Scotland’s Calum Hill after a final round of 68.

Spanish pair Angel Ayora and Eugenio Chacarra both finished for a tie of seventh at eight-under-par. Chacarra carded a 72, which included two double-bogeys, and will rue a missed opportunity to claim his second DP World Tour win.

Who is Adrien Saddier?

Saddier was born on 15 May 15, 1992 in Annemasse, France.

He started playing golf at the age of four thanks to his father and learned the game at Esery Golf Club. His first of four amateur wins came at the 2010 Grand Prix de Montpellier Massane. He represented France at the 2013 European Amateur Team Championship where they finished third.

Adrien Saddier turned professional in 2013. He earned his card on the DP World Tour for 2014 by playing all three stages of qualifying school.

His best finish on tour in the 2014 season was tied sixth at the Nelson Mandela Championship in December 2013. He finished 127th on the Race to Dubai and played primarily on the Challenge Tour from 2015 to 2017.

In 2016, Saddier won the Fred Olsen Challenge de Espana on the Challenge Tour for his first professional win. He finished the 2016 season just outside the top 15 in the Order of Merit but three runner-up finishes during the 2017 season put him 13th in the Order of Merit to earn a place on the DP World Tour for 2018, where he has remained ever since.

This was his 200th start. Apart from his win, he has four thirds and nine top 10s and has made 115 cuts. The win takes him to 10th in the Race to Dubai.
