Motocaddy Club Series Golf Bag & SE Electric Trolley Review

By: | Wed 29 May 2024

Do you remember the excitement you felt as a child when you went to bed on Christmas Eve? You had written your list to Santa and spent a sleepless night wondering if your dreams would all come true.

I am here to tell you that I have just experienced those feelings again at an age when I really should know better. And the reason?

Step forward Motocaddy. You have changed my life forever.

When I decided to return to this wonderful sport of ours last year after a long injury lay-off, I bought myself a cheap-as-chips trolley because I wasn’t certain that my body would be able to cope with all the strains of swinging a golf club. It was a decision I quickly came to regret.

I still suffer some shoulder pain and pulling around an economy trolley was not a lot of fun. But that all changed when I recently took delivery of a magnificent Motocaddy Club Series Golf Bag and Motocaddy SE Electric Trolley.

Motocaddy Club Series Golf Bag

Let’s deal with the bag first of all.

It is as light as a feather but simply oozes quality. The first thing I noticed was that there is a special sheath to store your umbrella. No longer do I have to worry about my trolley getting bruised and battered. Now it is protected beautifully.

Made of durable nylon fabric, it has 14 full-length club dividers, a waterproof rain hood, a dedicated putter well, towel hook and pen holder, and easy-access carry handles.

There is more. Much more.

This golf bag features a hosts of pockets. These include a velour lined pocket designed to store valuables while you are on the course, and a food and beverage pocket with insulated material designed to keep food and drink cool and fresh.

I am not finished yet. This bag has an anti-twist base designed to ensure that when it is attached to you trolley it is not going anywhere. Oh, and then there is the EASILOCK system that securely attaches the bag to any Motocaddy trolley without the need for a lower bag support strap.

The Club Series bag is available for £169.99.

Motocaddy SE Electric Trolley

Motocaddy SE Electric Trolley

As a young golfer I used to look down my nose at anybody who did not carry their clubs. There was something rather macho about slinging your golf bag over your shoulder.

How stupid was I? Even before injury sidelined me, I had long succumbed to abandoning the idea of carrying my clubs. As an older golfer I realised that I needed to listen to my body. And when I look around my own golf club - and the others I have been fortunate enough to visit this year - I had been struck by not only how many golfers use electric trolleys but that the vast majority of those I see on the course are made by Motocaddy.

When my SE Electric Trolley arrived I could not wait to rip open the packaging.

I am not the most practical person you have ever met (as my wife will confirm) and was somewhat concerned about how complicated it might be to assemble the trolley. I need not have worried. It really could not be easier - just remember to read the instructions correctly and ensure that the right and left wheels are fitted properly.

Based on Motocaddy’s S-shaped frame and platform, the SE is incredibly easy to use.

Its features include an incredible nine-speed settings to match your walking pace, quick-release wheels with new tyre tread, a super-quiet 200W motor to supply plenty of power when you need it, a folding lock for easy transportation, adjustable bag supports to hold any golf bag securely and an award-winning QUIKFOLD mechanism allowing assembly in seconds. The real bonus for me - and something that I was not expecting - is the USB port that allows you to charge your tech while you play.

The trolley also incorporates Motocaddy's exclusive EASILOCK system, designed to lock any of the company's bags in place without a lower bag strap.

It all folds away in one simple action and will easily slip into the boot of any car.

All trolleys come with a one-year warranty, while the lithium battery is guaranteed for three years. I have spoken with fellow golfers who have used Motocaddy trolleys for upwards of five years and are still using the original batteries.

The Verdict

Motocaddy Review

The quality of the golf bag was a real bonus. It is clearly well-made and I am hugely impressed with the touches that make it stand out from the crowd, such as the umbrella and putter wells.

And for me, the SE Electric Trolley truly is a game changer. It is easy to use, takes seconds to fold away and store in the boot of your car. I can easily get 36 holes from a single charge of the battery. My injury issues have been well documented here and the big difference I have noticed is that I now come off the 18th green feeling fit, fresh and pain-free. If you are thinking about investing in an electric trolley, I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this one.

The SE Electric Trolley is available for £499.99.
