Ben Hogan Launches New PTx Tour Irons

By: Golfshake Editor | Wed 27 Mar 2024

The Ben Hogan Golf Equipment company remains one of the most timeless in the game - founded by the legendary figure himself back in 1953 - and that legacy continues with the brand's all-new PTx Tour irons.

These are set to grab the attention of a wide range of golfers thanks to its marriage of spectacular looks and game-changing performance.

The PTx Tour is a combo set for golfers seeking the best possible blend of distance, consistency, trajectory control, looks, and feel. It leverages four different forged constructions to create true club-specific performance.

Special attention has been paid to the size and shaping of each iron to deliver a seamless transition from club to club. From the four-piece long irons to the one-piece short irons, PTx Tour has your back from every distance.

PTx Tour long irons (4-5) use a four-piece construction to help golfers hit their longest irons higher and farther, particularly on mishits. The bodies and faces are forged from 1025 carbon steel to deliver the best feel and consistency.

The inside of the head is foam filled for enhanced perimeter weighting and a soft, solid feel, while internal tungsten weights further enhance forgiveness and move weight lower in the club heads to help golfers increase peak height and maintain ideal distance gapping.

The PTx 6-iron boasts a three-piece construction. Its design does not require a tungsten weight, as its weighting is already precisely tuned. It is the transitional iron in the set that bridges the gap between the PTx Tour’s high-powered long irons and scoring-minded mid-and-short irons.

PTx Tour mid irons (7-8) also use a three-piece construction to help golfers create the lower, more consistent trajectories that are ideal for scoring. Between the 1025 forged carbon steel bodies and faces lies a co-forged titanium insert that enhances forgiveness while also moving weight higher to prevent ballooning.

The structure of the PTx Tour short irons (9-PW) is one of pure precision. They are one-piece irons forged from 1025 carbon steel to deliver the ultimate in shot-making performance and control. These are true scoring clubs made with the highest level of precision.

All PTx Tour Irons feature an enhanced V-SOLE design. With a high-bounce leading edge and soft, lower-bounce trailing edge on the sole, this unique design will help the clubhead move cleanly through the turf, even from the longest rough.

PTx Tour irons are built with 4° loft gapping from 4-iron (21.5°) to pitching wedge (45.5°). Their tour-approved lofts are ideal for most golfers, but their lofts can be customised up to 2° stronger or weaker to deliver optimised performance for golfers with different trajectory needs.

Both lie angles (+/- 2 degrees) and lengths (+/- 2 inches) are also customisable, as are shafts and grips. The PTx Tour irons can also be built in sets of 4-PW (7 clubs) or 5-PW (6 clubs) to meet the needs of golfers with different set compositions.

With its direct-to-consumer retail model, Ben Hogan Golf has cut out a lot of the associated costs of other major equipment brands, and as such can provide premium products at a more competitive price point. The PTx Tour irons start at just £699.99 and are available to order direct from the website.
