Scottie Scheffler what's in the bag 2026
For a time it looked like we might be seeing a contest but in the end Scottie Scheffler strolled to his 20th PGA Tour title with a four-shot victory at The American Express. Incredibly, this was his first proper competitive outing since the Ryder Cup and he served notice to his rivals that they can expect more of the same in 2026.
The American finished on 27 under par after a six-under 66 in the final round, with a double-bogey five at the par-three 17th after he found the water proving immaterial. Scheffler, who began the day one shot behind 54-hole leader Si Woo Kim, had nine birdies.
He joins Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as the only players to have 20 PGA Tour titles and four majors before turning 30, with this victory earning him lifetime membership on the Tour.
Scheffler said: "I did a good job of staying patient and executing when I needed to. It was a really solid day. I always dreamed of being able to play on the PGA Tour and it's a blessing to be out here and compete. It's an even bigger blessing to be able to win some tournaments.
"There's always a certain amount of rust when it comes to playing competitive golf.
"You can simulate as best you can at home, but you can only get into the heat of the moment when you're posting a score and in contention at a tournament. It's nice to see some of the stuff that I've been working on has paid off."
Of Scheffler's 20 wins on the PGA Tour, nine of those have been by four shots or more.
There was a four-way tie for second with Jason Day, Andrew Putnam, Matt McCarty and Ryan Gerard all finishing on 23 under, a shot clear of Kim and Sam Stevens, with 18-year-old Blades Brown ending tied-18th on 19 under after a closing two-over 74.

Player Profile
Scottie Scheffler was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey on June 21, 1996 and is married to Meredith. He started playing at the age of three when his parents gave him a set of plastic clubs and ball.
Scheffler had prolific success at the youth level, and won 75 times on the PGA junior circuit. He was barely 5ft tall when he started high school but experienced a growth spurt and is now 6ft 3in.
In 2013 he won the US Junior Amateur and went on to attend the University of Texas from 2014 until 2018. He was a member of the US Walker Cup team in 2017 and qualified for the US Open in 2016, when he missed the cut by a stroke. He qualified again in 2017 and this time played all 72 holes, finishing as low amateur.
He turned professional and joined the Web.com Tour, winning the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship, gaining his PGA Tour card and being named Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year.
In August 2020, Scheffler finished tied for fourth at the US PGA Championsip. In August 2020 he shot a 12-under-par 59 at the Northern Trust. It was the 12th sub-60 round in PGA Tour history. He was named rookie of the year in 2019-20 and qualified to play for the US Ryder Cup team after a series of top-five finishes.
His first win came at the 2022 Phoenix Open. Three weeks later he added the Arnold Palmer Invitational and then claimed the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play.
His crowning achievement came when he won The Masters and climbed to the top of the world rankings. He was named 2022 PGA Tour Player of the Year and qualified for the US Presidents Cup team and last year made the US Ryder Cup team.
But it was what he achieved in 2024 that set him apart.
He won the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational and followed it up with back to back wins at the Players Championship - the first golfer ever to achieve the feat. He then finished runner-up at the Houston Open before winning The Masters for a second time and the RBC Heritage the next week.
In June he added The Memorial before claiming the Travelers Championship for his 12th win on the PGA Tour, his sixth of the season and extended his lead at the top of the world rankings and strengthened his place at the top of the FedEx Cup standings. He also won gold at the Paris Olympics and then crowned it all with the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup in what was a quite incredible year.
He injured his hand on a broken glass at Christmas and missed the start of the 2025 season and, by his own standards, began the year slowly - then came the CJ Cup. Scheffler carded an eight-under-par 63 to finish the week on 31 under par - an incredible eight shots clear of nearest rival, South Africa’s Erik van Rooyen. In eight previous starts before that his worst finish was a tie for 25th and he had already achieved five top-10 finishes, including tied second at the Houston Open. He then won the US PGA and successfully defended The Memorial for his third win in four starts.
His victory in The Open was his fourth major success and means he now only has to add the US Open to claim the Career Grand Slam.
He has made 151 PGA Tour starts and won 20 times, making 131 cuts. He has 10 runner-up finishes and 12 third places, along with 57 top fives and an incredible 77 top 10s. He now has career earnings of more than $101m. He only joined the PGA Tour in 2020.
His official earnings in 2024 alone stood at a staggering $29.25m, although this rose to more than $50m when taking his FedEx Cup bonus payments into account. In 2025 he picked up around $28m. He already leads the FedEx Cup standings for 2026.
