Adam Svensson Player Profile And What's In The Bag

By: | Mon 21 Nov 2022

CANADA’S Adam Svensson won his maiden PGA Tour title at the RSM Classic at Sea Island after barely making the 36-hole cut.

Svensson finished on 19 under par, two shots clear of England’s Callum Tarren and US pair Sahith Theegala and Brian Harman. Tarren, 32, had enjoyed three top-10 finishes in his career but never placed in the top three.

However his final round of 64 was not enough to overturn Svensson's lead.

Svensson's birdie putts on the 16th and 17th holes were enough to see him break clear of the pack.

"It's not even real right now. I'm just so happy, I put so much work in. To win on the PGA Tour means everything to me," the 28-year-old said.

His first Tour victory came on what was a 70th PGA start for the world number 174.

Tarren, meanwhile, hopes there will be more to come for him. "It's the best golf tour in the world and I love playing out here and hopefully I'm out here for a long time," he said.

Player Profile

Svensson was born in British Columbia on December 31, 1993. He won the Canadian Boys Championship in 2012 and enjoyed a decent amateur career before turning professional in 2015, joining the Canadian Tour, where he twice finished runner-up. He qualified to play on the Web.com Tour in 2016 and in 2018 he won the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic and earned his PGA Tour card for 2019. He lost it after just one season and returned to the Korn Ferry Tour, winning the Club Car Championship and Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship.

He averages 287 yards from the tee, finds 59.87% of fairways and 68.38% of greens in regulation. He averages 3.54 birdies per round and gets up and down from the sand 50% of the time and averages 28.65 putts per round.

His victory at the RSM Classic took him to sixth place in the FedEx Cup standings and 72nd in the world rankings.
