Under Armour Spieth 2 Shoe Review
REVIEW: Under Armour Spieth 2
Under Armour have launched their Spieth 2 shoe which will build on the promising debut of the Spieth one. A performance shoe, the Spieth 2 is packed with new tech and features a GORE-TEX layer for the first time.
I was recently got may hands on a pair ahead of the PGA Show in Orlando and immediately headed out onto the course to put them to the test. Here is my review:
About the Spieth 2 Shoe:
The new Spieth 2 makes some significant improvements on it's predecessor, with the two main points of difference being the inclusion of GORE-TEX making the shoe 100% waterproof, but also breathable, a fact also underlined by the performance design on the toe of the shoe.
The second major change to the shoe is the use of Under Armour's smart weave upper, a fabric interwoven with TPU to allow for major weight savings, but no loss in stability. Under Armour have been clever in this use of technology and in my opinion the the weight savings in this shoe bring it up to a best in class standing.
While major improvements have been made to the waterproofing and the overall weight, it is impressive that Under Armour have managed to retain the stability that really put the Spieth one on the map. You feel rooted to the ground and the grip generated from the rotational spikes really helps your footwork through the swing. Under Armour's continued dedication to performance is written all over this shoe making it a real stand out in it's category.

A superb follow up to the original Spieth signature shoe that goes a long way in addressing the weight issues and I have been very impressed that in doing so, Under Armour did not lose any stability in the shoe. The rotational spikes are a leading tech that has been recoginised by many in the shoe industry and we will no doubt be seeing attempts to replicate that technology and it's resulting benefits across the category.
While I still have doubts about the ability to keep the smart weave in white as clean as I would like, Under Armour have addressed this by treating the area to make it repel dirt and stains and there are many colour ways where this will not be an issue.
All in all a great performance shoe with GORE-TEX technology from Under Armour and at just £160 it is a best in class shoe that also offers fantastic value.
Golfshake Rating - 9/10
