Internationally known, the Vila Sol golf course managed by the Pestana Group, is now part of the Algarve's most sought after golf courses.
Having been inaugurated in 1991 with the signature of the architect Donald Steel, "Vila Sol, is living proof that dreams can be realized. It also have been the hosting golf course for Open de Portugal in 1991 and 1992.

Located in the Central Algarve the Vila Sol Hotel and Golf resort is set in 75 acres of natural beauty and accommodates these two magnificent golf courses, Pestana Vila Sol Championship and Pestana Vila Sol Academy Golf Course.

A very tricky course

A very tricky course very well looked after and manicured. The clubhouse, shop, facilities and welcome was exceptional spoilt once again by the stupid insistence of 4 ball play and splitting up small groups of visitors. Once more the annoying factor that 2 and 3 balls could be observed on the course made this another visit in the not very enjoyable category. Noticeable too, were the increase prices of absolutely everything on offer. Not the best advertisement to encourage visitors. Shame

Beautiful course, always in immaculate condition and always a pleasure, the trees can easily snag balls and the rough is thick

Worth a visit!

Worth visiting. Nice course with plenty of trees. Lovely club house terrace overloooking the 18th that serves good food

Harder than it looks

This course was probably the toughest I've played. Fairways are tighter than they look because as soon as you're towards the first cut you will find a number of trees with tight, dense canopies waiting to block your next shot. Lots of low punch shots to get back on the fairway. The rough was soft and mulchy so you needed good shots to escape. Beautiful course though. Prime, Challenge and Prestige loops all had their merits. Very walkable in November but wouldn't have fancied walking it in summer. Overall, a beautiful place to play that will be kind to you if you're hitting straight.

Nice Set Up

Course in good condition and a challenging tight course in places. Fairways and greens in good condition. Some challenging holes but overall a good course.

Nice course worth visiting

Nice course. Tight fairways. Need a good tee shot. Long. Hilly and buggy is advised.

I had a great time playing at this course! The scenery was absolutely beautiful and the facilities were very professional and well-maintained. The test was varied in difficulty and the conditions, weather, and overall feeling were great. I really enjoyed the variety of long and short holes.
