What the club says: The Club is delighted to welcome both ladies and gentlemen, offering a truly testing links course for visitors and societies as well as a warm, welcoming atmosphere with first class facilities and excellent catering.
There is splendid contrast to be found on the Formby Ladies course. Those holes lying on the flat landward side entice players into error by their misleading air of innocence; while the picturesque adventurous holes lying among the sandhills and the pine woods provide many golfing challenges.
Several holes have elevated tees providing excellent views over much of the course and towards the Irish Sea. The par 3 holes are some of the most difficult you could wish to play anywhere.

Wonderful course!
Don't let the length (or lack thereof) fool you: This is a course that requires accuracy. If you're not accurate, the course will require a lot of extra balls in your bag. The fairways are lined with heather: If your ball goes in there, good luck finding it, and if you do, good luck getting it out.It's also a pretty course. The par 3 5th is stunning.

Outstanding course!

Never tire of this place
One of the best courses I have played. Dont be fooled by the length of the course. Fairways can be very narrow. And greens small. The Ladies always give you a warm welcome. Even in winter condition is of a high standard.Reviewer Rating

Belting course
Our 2nd visit here and it was in perfect condition fairways well defined greens outstandingHaving trudged round my own course Haigh Hall is was like a dream come true playing here

A must play - this will test your iron play
We played Formby Mens the day before and a member simply said: "When you play Formby Ladies - leave your driver in the car!"Remember Dallas and Lucy Ewing? "The poison dwarf!" This course is short but has as much hell awaiting for you as a woman scorned! Unlike anywhere else I know it will destroy your card if you approach it with anything but respect!
I love this course!

Afterwards we took the train to West Lancs for the afternoon and chatted to a member who played us through and she as saying what a friendly course it is and how many friends she has made after moving to the area from Reading. So it is not all about the golf! Love it!

Always an enjoyable visit
Played several times - love this course. Should be easy, never is especially if the wind blows & the gorse gets you. Some great holes yet some easy ones to give you a chance. Always very playable and greens always in good condition.Reviewer Rating

Nice to play a dry course after all the rain
Nice course to play values accuracy rather than length. In great condition and some lovely looking holes. Plenty of heather which is really punishing if you are wayward. Little on the expensive side but well worth a go if never played it. All members and staff extremely pleasant and welcoming.Reviewer Rating

Must be accurate
First time of playing this course and totally different to the men?s course I played that morning. If you are wayward at any point expect to be punished by the thick heather. Greens and fairways immaculate and I think I used my driver 3 times, the rest being a steady 5 iron off the tee. Definitely a course to revisit.Reviewer Rating

Interesting Track
Obviously in the shadow of the main course but well worth a visit. It sit within the main course and has it's own clubhouse. Not long but still a decent challenge for any golfer.(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 91 Handicap: 14.8)

Course in good condition for the time of year. Greens had been dressed in preparation for the coming season, so they where a little uneven and difficult to judge the pace.

Hidden GEM
This course is breathtaking, a must play for all keen golfers. A great tester for anyone's golf skills and the course was in excellent condition. Keep your ball on the fairway as there is lots of trouble in the rough and gorse. The fairways and greens are fantastic and every hole you play offers a new surprise, Beautiful giant pine trees and scenery add to the all round experience. The moment you go into the club house there is a very warm welcome and atmosphere, you will be well looked after. I will be back here soonReviewer Rating

Great test of golf
Loved playing this as a warm up to the main course the next day.Never played with thick heather as the rough - so punishing. Keep it on the short stuff at all costs! Some really great holes. Will play again. Julie in the office could not be more helpful. Every member on the course and in the clubhouse was soooo friendly.

don't underestimate this course!
With goarse thicker than the main links, this is a must play (aim for what you can see) but don't bite off more than you can chew!!! A must is keeping your ball on the short stuff.Reviewer Rating

WOW!What a club, what a welcome, what staff..... from Julie on reception, to Tony at the bar to the extremely helpful waitresses and staff including then exceptionally courteous green staff.
The ladies course was great fun and not as easy as you may think..... deadly if you don't follow the shops advice "fairways and greens and only aim for what you can see". Two foot off the fairway and you are in gorse!!!!
Highly recommend the dormy accommodation, breakfast and bar food!
This is what golf is supposed to be like everywhere!

Wow. Super course. Some gorgeous holes. Favourites were 4th and looking down the 10th off the tee. None of us had seen heather lined fairways before so that got us focused after the first stray drives!!!The staff are are amazing. Julie Stong on reception couldn't be more friendly and helpful . Can't wait to try the main course later.....the ladies course was a great warmup!
