What the club says: Spread over just 50 acres of what was a mangrove swamp barely five decades ago, this 4922 yard nine hole course is deceptively short. The lack of any roll on the fairways could make the par 67 quite a challenge for the unsuspecting visitor.
The holes are repeated over the back nine from totally different tee-boxes but played to the same greens and pin positions.
The fairways, some of which are treacherously narrow, are lined mostly by tall, swaying coconut palms and the odd, strategically placed takamaka and casuarina trees. These have stood silent witnesses to the numerous hooks and slices as well as many spectacular drives and miraculous escapes.
The signature hole is the 308 yard par 4, seventeenth with its elevated teebox overlooking the fairway beyond a largish water hazard and the invitingly large green at the end of it. Many a big hitter is tempted to drive it, but beware the waiting bunkers and the nasty rough beyond!
The banks of the water hazards are populated by a tribe of red crabs dedicated to crawling away with mishit golf balls! The course is also a sort of bird sanctuary and one can often spot rare migratory birds while walking to their next shot.
