What the club says: Forest Pines (Forest Pines)
The stunning championship layout at Forest Pines was opened in 1996 and has rapidly become one of the must play courses in the UK. The fairways twist and turn their way through majestic pines and then into open heathland and despite its tender years, Forest Pines is reminiscent of a more established championship course. Split into three 9 hole loops, the Pines, the Beeches and the Forest, it plays at 6,882 yards in its longest combination. Designed by John Morgan and constructed to exceptionally high standards, it was voted the best new course in England by Golf World magazine almost immediately after it was opened and has hosted the Ericsson Midland PGA Championship for the last three years.

Good fairways and tees, Poor Greens and Bunkers. Staff - Ughhhh!
Nice looking, pretty, scenic course. Lots of pine trees bordering almost every fairway so have plenty balls! Tee Boxes and Fairways in great shape. Unfortunately greens had been aerated and top dressed with sand so in the morning dew were terrible. The ball just picked up so much sand, putting conditions very poor, ball jumps and bobbles so pace and line were impossible to judge. Bunkers are hardpan under the surface and really need attention. The young staff were really friendly, but the older staff were really grumpy, and set a poor example.

Very Enjoyable
Forest Pines is a 27 hole complex near Scunthorpe, although it sounds like it should be a US PGA Tour course somewhere in California. There are 3 loops of 9 holes, Forest, Beeches and Pines, and we were playing the Forest/Beeches combination on the way down to Wentworth for the PGA Championship.

The course very much has a look of Wentworth about it as almost all holes are tree-lined on both sides. Although most fairways are wide enough so as not to feel too intimidating, you do need to be a straight hitter to keep your score intact. The holes have enough variation to keep things interesting with one or two water hazards also added to the mix. The course was in excellent condition on a beautiful hot day and breakfast on the veranda and a post-round pint in the sunshine made up for a very enjoyable visit.

Would I return? Definitely – this is the best course I have played at one of the big hotel chains.

First time staying and playing at Forest Pines and in a word impressed. All 3 courses (Forest, Pines and Beeches) all worth playing. Quite tight treelined holes, greens true and fairly quick. All very well maintained. All on the flat so easy walk round.Well worth a visit for sure.
