As always the course was in good nick for the time of year the greens were faster than expected a few bobbles but what do you expect in Febuary everyone in our society was pleased the staff couldnt have been more helpful. £20.50 for golf and bacon rolls is a bargin.

Thorpe wood is a great course and one of the best value public courses around. The holes are fairly open so don’t punish a poor drive by more than 1 shot. You can usually finish the course with the ball you started with which is rewarding in itself! The course is fairly long however the open fairways usually allow you to use the driver regularly. The only downside of Thorpe wood is that being a public course, the greens tend to get a lot of punishment so they tend to be kept of the slow side.

Great course for a pay and play, plays long, good for big hitters but fairly wide fairways so can be a forgiving course for high handicappers. greens are in good condition currently.

Play this every few Friday's as nice and close to work. Course is always in very good condition and a pleasure to play - only things to watch out for is sometimes holes aren't plugged when the pin is moved, and the 3rd-5th can be waterlogged after a few days of wet.

Course is definitely one for the big hitters - poor drives are punished, but the whole course is interesting.

Twilight rate is excellent value for money.

A very good course in excellent condition. a very tough test as there are some very long par four holes. may lack a little character and would suit better to longer hitters. this is not to detract from it being a top pay and play course and is well worth a visit. good and well stocked pro shop and a very warm welcome from all of the staff. we had a good day out and it was a decent test. give this course the thumbs up!

Mr John Condon

Played the course on 11th June with three other Fakenham golf members and was met with a friendly face at the payment office and advised of all Covid regulations in force. We then had a very enjoyable round on a very well looked after course with lovely views and some tremendous holes. This is the best course we have played for many a year and all the local golfers were very friendly and courteous which made our day. We will be back again later in the year and stay overnight to play both courses.
Many thanks to you all.

Best regards
John Condon, Geoff Vertigan, John Banson, Grenvill Dagless of Fakenham Golf Club.

One of the best municipal courses you'll ever play on. And seriously good value for money.

The fairways are fairly generous, but if you do wander off them you'll find yourself blocked by trees.

The greens were in great condition, with very little in the way of lumps or bumps to deflect your putt.

The course is very popular so you will have to book, and don't be too surprised to take more than four hours to get round.

I had a shocker but this is a great course in it's own right and a noticeable uptick in the maintenance of the course since they've added the new driving range; well cut fairways and well maintained greens. Rough left slightly longer to penalise straying from the fairway. Played at 2pm on a sunny Friday which qualified as a twilight and just £12 which is ridiculously cheap. Only negative was the amount of patrons sporting jeans which didn't seem necessary.

We played this coarse on the way up to lincolnshire on the back of the reviews we found on golfshake and boy we were not disappointed. We paid 17.50 each which puts some of the prices in essex to shame ,the coarse is in beautiful condition and has a mixture of dificult and easy holes ,quite simply the best pay and play coarse we have ever played and you would think you were playing a private members coarse as you make your way round.

Our group of 24 from Essex decided to go up early for our annual weekend to Toft and play a different course on the way.I can only say WOW because this is classed as a pay and play but it puts most private courses to shame.Would we go back next year OH YES.You may think the first hole (par 3) a boring start but this just hides a real gem of a challenge
