Good test great views
The weather was very poor. Rain and wind. The greens had also been spiked and sanded, so very bumpy and difficult to put on. Bunkers did not hav3 enough sand in them.(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 91 Handicap: 5.4)

Thornbury
Considering how they treated the course in the winter (I remember playing on icy greens, which I wasn't impressed that they allowed us on the course). The course is in pretty good condition. The course is less exciting to play that some others in the area but if you live in Thornbury or Alveston then it is pretty convenient. I'm a standard 18-20 handicapper who grew up playing this course. The greens are in good condition running fairly quick after our hot spell. A couple of bunkers were very tricky to get out of with little sand but then I guess that is what makes them a hazard. The back 9 are more fun than the front.

WET
Played Friday for first time in about a year, course was very wet and probably should have been closed, enjoyable day but was a little put out by price of drinks, £4-60 for Guinness rather expensive when other clubs we play is usually £4 or less, food was very good but one of the staff a little preoccupied and rude when asked to top up drink.(Round played: Mar 2018 - Score: 81 Handicap: 10.7)

Our regular course
Ground very hard including greens. Rough very long, Need to stay on fairways to set a good score. Open course with wide spaces. Restaurant could do with more snack type foods but meals are appetising, but generally the premises are kept in an excellent condition. Has an excellent driving range and par three course.(Round played: Jul 2017 - Score: 92 Handicap: 25)

The course hasn't really changed much since my last review (Feb 2016). Nice course will flatter the inconstant golfer like me. When the green fees are around £15 it is bargain but you have to play late in the afternoon to get that. There are more exciting courses with better greens within an hour drive..
Driving range is more expensive than Bristol GC

Very similar as my last review in February 2016.. However the greens were as hard as hell which meant landing on the greens and getting the ball near the pin was impossible.
Nice course but lacks character on some holes compared to other courses in the area. I feel the twilight rate is reasonable but now you cannot get a full round in I doubt I will play here again until late spring on the main "Marlwood" course as I don't consider a round here to be worth more than £15 a round..

I have previously reviewed this course in February 2016 and the course hasn't really change much. The fairways are in good condition and ground is now firm allowing your drives to go further. The greens are cut well but require love from the members and guest to repair their pitch marks, some greens looked like the surface of the moon on entry. The club could fix this by hiring some kids from the local secondary school and paying them in free golf or driving range balls.
