So so bad for a golf club.

So being a beginner at golf I tackled the par 3 course for a few months getting better and better. However there are kids running around picking up your golf balls as they come over the hill to wind the golfers up.

A gardener for the course, likes to pull up on greens whilst people are taking shots to re hole the greens! They told me to play on whilst they were working on the green on hole 6. I am not happy to do that. If I hit him in the head and hurt or kill him I have to live with that, its a par 3 Amateur course ffs! Even though I wished I did hit him with the ball as he refused to move.

So going to play golf at garons, you have to avoid the gardeners pulling up on the greens, watch out for kids stealing your balls and they change where the holes are on the bloody greens every other time you play.

After 10 trips I was done with that rubbish place.

Avoid Horndon 9

We have played all three 9 hole courses in the last couple of weeks and Horndon is not a golf course for the first half innings of the course. Greens are unplayable in this section and it's little more than a field. There?s clearly a differential in time and money invested on this course with very visible differences from the covid safe equipment not rolled out into Horndon (but in the other two, to lack of bins (and rubbish being left in piles that weren't then collected), to no tee numbers, signs etc on this course. Shouldn't be offered as an equal alternative in its current state to the other two. We knew it wasn't as good but shocked at the lower class even the basics (I noted above) it is given.
Would only play again the Other two courses which are fine. But will probably avoid for a while as I feel they have robbed us a bit this time with charging us money for something they aren't making sufficient investment into.
It should just be that those ?in the know? get

Great greens for a pay & play

Essex is bereft of decent golf courses but this is probably the best pay and play course locally to us. Fairways obviously brown due to the hot weather but the greens are in excellent condition.

Expensive for what it is. Not keen on this course. Greens are all weather so open all the time. 27 holes so plenty to choose from. Just not for me. Very flat and I like hills

Played early on a Saturday morning. Paid £32 for the round plus another £12 to share a buggy. The course isn't in good condition. The greens are being prepared for winter, which is fine but it would have been prudent of the club to inform me of this at the time of booking, or even perhaps offer a green fee discount. I don't think that the round is worth £32 when comparing to other local courses. I'm local so will no doubt try again next year, probably at a reduced twilight rate or similar.

Greens were terrible - had been treated for the winter and was like putting on a connect-4 board. No problem with this being done, but we weren't told pre-round, and it did spoil the round. A discount should be offered when this has happened as it temporarily lowers the quality of the course (which of late has been very good).

(Round played: May 2015 - Score: 83 Handicap: 13.7)
Greens are now rock hard. However, main problem is slow play. This is caused by there being no rangers on the course and the fact that the rough and semi rough are way too long and balls that shouldn't be lost are lost and time is wasted searching. They need to sort this out.

The best thing about Garons is everything apart from the course.
Shop, good,
Staff, helpful,
Range, great,
Par 3, nice,
Bar / Restaurant, good
27 hole course, flat, boring and open and very expensive.

Fantastic drainage after so much wet weather, one of the only courses around open. (Jan 13), not my favourite course around but always plays okay and in good condition

Temporary tees now in use. The matts are not that good to tee from. Greens were nice for this time of year.
A good round today so can't really moan. Would play there again but pricey at the weekend. I don't think it's a £26 course
