The golf course, constructed to a high standard and with sand based greens is laid out in three loops of 9 holes ( A, B & C) which all start and finish at the clubhouse, this enables different combinations of 18 holes to be played.
Each combination is a good test of golf with a Par 70 layout in excess of 6,000 yards with free draining soil and sand based greens to ensure they are playable throughout the year. There are several large lakes which gives the course a mature look beyond its years. Book a Tee Time

Location: From Junction 29 M25, take A127 East for approximately 8 miles at the roundabout, take third exit A127 continue for approximately 1 mile, at the roundabout, take the second exit Priory Crescent A1159 continue for aprroximately 1 mile, at the roundabout, take second exit Eastern Avenue A1159 continue for another 1/2 mile, at the roundabout, take second exit A1159 then after another 1/2 mile past Cecil Jones High School, at the roundabout, take the first exit into Garon Park. Follow the road for 500 yards to the entrance to the complex, the car park is located to the front of the clubhouse.

For a council run course, this has superb greens not just your standard flat easy approach. Nice facilities. Get the feel of it being a private course... I may be slightly biased in my view as I had a cracking round

The course played well today and managed the rain nicely. Lush fairways and nice running greens. Has definitely improved over the past month.

Temporary tees now in use. The matts are not that good to tee from. Greens were nice for this time of year.
A good round today so can't really moan. Would play there again but pricey at the weekend. I don't think it's a £26 course

A lot of work being done at present but does not distract from the state of the course, which has much improved drainage. Greens in very good condition for December.

Winter tees now in use (27th December ) but using normal greens. The greens were in great condition and the course was still quite dry.
The omelette breakfast was a real plus before our game.

A is by far the best 9, however B & C are very uninspiring and open allowing all kinds of poor shots to be easily recovered. Greens are good. Good club house and facilities. Worth a visit for medium / high handicappers but if you're in the Southend area my suggestion would be Belfairs.

This course is made up of 3, 9 hole course a, B & C. Course A & B are the better ones as C has a lot of small white fences some across the fairway because of conservation work on lizards, not the courses fault. It is a park land course that drains very well and is well maintained in general. The wind can be a problem as very few trees.

Good well maintained course.
Greens and fairways in excellent condition!
Would recommend playing A & B as they are still working on C (although still playable).
Driving range is still not finished so see post 13th April!

Played 13th April 2009.
As previous reviews it is a fairly good course with 3 loops A B and C.
At the moment they are having some work done to and around the course. On 9A and 1C 7C 8C and 9C there is plastic newt fencing up which is across and alongside the fairways. Especially bad on 1C. If playing I would recommend playing A and B.
Tee boxes fairly hacked about and some tee markers missing. Not many rakes in evidence either.
Work is also going on to the driving range. They are currently remodelling it so mostly out of action. 6-8 bays are in use with a big net to drive into and balls £1 for 40. It looks like it will be good when it is done but the posters say they don't know how long it will take. I guess all of it is to do with the building of a new muni swimmimg pool on the next door site and they are being paid(?) to take the excess muck.
Otherwise it is not a bad course with some nice holes.

I like this course, you have the choice of playing a mixture of A,B or C Course (all 9 holes) so you can mix it up a bit if by playing A&C - C&B etc if playing here frequently. Well equipped club house, good driving range. 9 hole PAR 3 course which you do not have to book in advance and if you want to go round again you pay half price with your receipt for the first 9 holes (ONLY on the PAR 3). Twilight and winter specials etc on request !

Have played this course a fair amount lately and it has been in pretty good nick considering the recent weather. During the week it is only £10 for a round if you tee off after 15:00 hrs which is very reasonable. Not really a tough course but that said I still can't break 80 round there!!

Three loops of 9 on exposed Essex Park Land. The course try to make out it is Links and with a sand base and the howling wind may offer this assertion some credence. However, it is in and area called Garons PARK and is several miles from the sea.
The A and B course are not too bad and offer a reasonable challenge, but the C course has over the past couple of years been dreadful. The greens have been deep seeded and look like someone has upturned and bed of nails on it.
Garons also has a fairly easy Par 3, a driving range, restaurant, bar and changing rooms. The Pro Shop is pretty well stoked and whilst the staff are helpful and polite when you speak to the in the shop, if you telephone they tend to be brusque and if anything rude.
To my mind there are far better courses in the area for the money, however, Garons is usually able to accommodate you at the weekend where other courses cannot.
