Ballards Gore Golf Club
Ballards Gore Golf Club, is an 18 hole Golf Club situated 2 miles from Rochford and is set in 110 acres of countryside. We are one of the longest courses in Essex, 6769 yards with a par of 73 and is set between the historic village of Canewdon which was renowned for its witchcraft and Stambridge near Rochford in South East Essex.
The course offers a truly impressionable and challenging game of golf. There is also a large practice area for pitching and driving as well as a putting green situated near the clubhouse. Contact Information

I'm sorry but Ballards Gore is an awful course. It may well be one of the longest courses in Essex but if you can't see the green and have no idea where the line off the tee is due to a severe lack of marker posts then what's the point of being so long. I'm by no means a bad golfer (3.2 handicap) but had a shacking round today. This was due to constantly ending up in the wrong place off the tee and being blocked for my second shot.
I agree the greens were good (although very slow), as was the general condition of the course, but it's a long time since i've been so annoyed by a round of golf.
Definately much, much better courses in Essex so don't bother with this course unless you plan to play several rounds and memorise the layout.The Course

Ballards continues to be a great socalise club with an interesting and challenging course. Greens are genally the highlight one two very different 9 holes that provide a varied round each time.

This course is tucked away in the middle of nowhere near Southend and in my opinion is a gem.
The course accept 2 fore 1 vouchers of every variety even at weekends, this makes for an excellnt golfing experience without breaking the bank.
The course (even thouh it was November when we played) was in excellent condion. The short Par 3 first is deceiving and will lull you into a false sense of security. You are brought down to earth with a bump at the second where you face a tee shot over water which if long enough will give you a second onto a raised green protected by bunkers and more water. The course meanders though some picturesqe Essex parkland and I felt was it was at the very least a very nice place to be.
The Pro Shop is small but well stocked with the basics and the staff were extremely helpful. A nice club house with dining room and changing facilities round of a rather nice course.
I hope to make a return trip in the summer to see the course when the ground is harder and the sun is shining.
