26/03/2023 -Should have been closed
Boggy fairways, greens boggy and aerated and lack of course management self-evident. Course should have been closed as unplayable. First time played and will be the lastReviewer Rating

Unable to play as overbooked yet again!
I cannot review the actual course as we didn’t even manage to play. The booking for our Society tees had been made 6 months ago and upon arrival today 10 minutes before our tee times there were still 32 golfers stood waiting on the tee from another society.
We were informed by the person in the pro shop that they had double booked due to a new system that they had in place and a member’s car breaking down??
We haven’t played the course for a while as exactly the same thing has now happened on 3 occasions to us and regrettably we decided to give it another chance.
Most certainly off the list for the future and we will never book again.
It is very disappointing when you work all week and look forward to a game of golf at the weekend only to find you have a wasted 20 mile and an hours round trip.
There was no apology and no phone call to pre- warn us of the error they had made which would have at least saved us all the wasted journey.
Completely unacceptable and clearly mis-managed.

Very disappointing
Played here for the first time in a while and I was very disappointed, the course needs a lot of work doing to it and the fairways need urgent attention, The course is so boggy in areas in my opinion it shouldn’t be open at the moment, the fairways are that muddy they look like a speedway track in some areas , the greens are hit and miss which is a shame as they could be really good , also in my opinion the machines are getting that bogged down that they are tearing up the grass and there are huge clumps of grass everywhere, I paid £15 and it’s not worth £5 to play it makes me realise just how good other courses are in the area ???? it’s the first time in many years that I haven’t enjoyed my round , I will never play here again until I hear that it’s improved ????????????(Round played: Aug 2019 - Score: 84 Handicap: 16)

Sorry but......
It could be a really nice course. The layout is good with a good test through trees & a little bit of water. Sorry, but the greens are horrific, so slow, bumpy with patches & small clumps of longer grass. Someone also needs to show the local members how to use a rake! When we finished the round, the guy from the shop was lying on a bench outside & was more interested in his phone than us!

The course itself is good, the quality of players that attend here due to it being a municipal isnt always the case though. unless you play early you will be stuck on each hole due to overbooking and golfers who take 6-7 shots to make it 1/2 way up the fairway.
Ill stick to playing private courses through teeofftimes, you can pay similar price to walton and you get the level of service you expect in the sport.

Needs work, car parking a nightmare
The car park is tight and small and was packed even though the course wasnt that busy. I unfortunately bumped another car trying to get in to a space (left my details) it doesnt helep that people cant park in the middle of the bays, ie the guy who was on my left who nicked my door with his and drove away. It doesnt help that people with buggies just block the road in the car park whilst unloading their clubs on to it. The same idiots then went tearing past us up the path to the first tee obviously late for thier time, ours was due in 5 mins.Next there is the course, the greens were very slow and had some bare patches on them as well, the fairways needed cutting, the grass was as long as the first cut at other courses. The rough is thick The layout is one you need to get to know, some blind tee shots on very sharp dog legs, knowing the line to take is difficult. I know that it is a council course but i have played others that are charging less and they are in better condition.
