I play here a lot at the moment. It is still a young course, and has quite recently been expanded to 18 holes.
There are LOTS of hazards and you quite regularly hear people saying it would be a great course to play if they knew were the hazards were, a course layout is provided on every scorecard so there is no real reason for this.
The fairways can be a bit unpredictable, with it being pay&play a lot of players do not give the ground the respect it deserves, divots do not get replaced etc. The green need tending to a bit more, I have started seeing a few more green keepers out and they were quite protected over the winter, although they still need improving.
Some great holes here, water or bunkers are always in play, a lot of thinking and planning required, very open as well.
The course doesnt have a clubhouse, no where to eat or drink after a round.
The driving range is great, and they have just got brand new TaylorMade range balls in, the lads in the shop are very friendly and helpful, if you are after a new set of sticks I would recommend them, they spend a lot of time with the customers, no selling techniques whatsoever and they are not pushy at all, they will spend 2 hours with you and leave you with a smile when you decide the clubs just are not for you.
As said, the course needs a lot of maturing and still needs a lot of tending too, but it is coming a long nicely and is an interesting test of golf for anyone.
At £15 per round on the weekends and £12.50 a round midweek its not bad, they also do a loyalty scheme, pay for 6 rounds 7th is free. A good offer for a local pay as you play golfer. The Course

Played under the twilight offer as a single player on Friday and was really pleased with the course. As some have said its a couple of years away from being great but at present is a good challenge, as a novice it had more than enough hazards to lose balls on!
Only down side was the swarms of mosquito's on the back 9 but it was a warm sunny evening and they definitely got their moneys worth out of me so wear bug spray! The Course

Played the course yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised. Aware that it has only recently opened, but the holes are interesting(if challenging !!) with water hazards. Elevated tees give the impression of a links course at times. You can see, as the course matures, that it will only improve again. And at £12.50 !!!!! Looking forward to playing it again- bit better this time !!! Recommended that you give it a serious look and play it. Really good range and shop as well.

Despite the cold weather, we had a great time at this course. Just like at Knights Grange there are no stuck up rich toffs making you feel unwelcome its really friendly and welcoming. those that say the holes are too close together dont know what their chatting and the large amount of water hazards just make it a challenge. the only thing missing is an ice cold pint to finish off the round. it may not be as cheap or as good as Knights Grange, but makes for a good 2nd choice.

All in all a pretty good course. Not very forgiving but that's what you want isn't it? Good test of ability.

This course is still in its early stages of development, but after playing this week after the rain we have had, looks stunning. There is still some growing to be done but when it matures it will be a top class golf course. There is no forgiveness on this course with all the fairways being very tight and water on just about every hole. It is a real challenge and after playing this course often it really improves your golf, or destroys it!!! But when you play another course you will find it much easier. All thats missing is a bar for a quick pint after a round.

This course has only recently opened the full 18 holes but in my opinion there are a few holes not ready yet. The course in a couple of years when its more matured will be a good challenge to a good golfer due to all the hazards and water and if you dont hit the fairway you will be punished. There is no club house so no long awaited pint afterwards, but the shop has a good range and it is cheap for a round, but in my opinion i would wait one of two years to play this course.

Played 18 holes today. This is a great course and is a good test for all standards. The cost was £10 (Monday 12.30pm tee off time) which is excellent value for money. There is a club shop and driving range as well.
Well worth a visit and i will be playing here as much as possible!!The Course

recently played here, currently a 9 hole but will be 18 very soon.
The rate you pay is for 18 holes so the £8.50 paid in the other review was actually for 18 holes but he chose to play 9. greens ran true and the water makes it a good test of anyones golf!!!
well worth a visit. They also have a great shop there, they stock everything! The Course

Fiddlers Ferry is a decent 9 hole course. There are some good holes on here, most notably the 500 yard, dog leg Par 5. This course has a lot of water on it and is very unforgiving if you are not accurate with your shots. Experienced golfers, though, will find they can post decent scores on here. As a beginner, I find it a decent test especially with all the water!
The course will eventually be an 18 hole course and the building works are ongoing in developing the other holes. When playing on the course, you can clearly see where the foundations for the new greens are and hopefully they will have a decent summer weather-wise to get the course finished!
All in all Fiddlers Ferry is a decent course. The Course

Has potential, but drainage could be a problem. Would also suggest that players need to know how to rake a bunker and repair pitch marks. Number of unraked bunkers and unrepaired pitch marks seen today.

Having read a few poor reviews of Fiddlers Ferry Golf Course, I was a bit wary as i approached the first tee - especially having parted with £8 for nine holes! I must say though, two hours later (with no queues midweek) it exceeded my expectations. The course has a strange feel to it as some holes are very near the groundworks for the back nine which looks to have 2 holes already complete - At times, it's almost like playing on a building site!! but other holes, with tactical mounds and hills, disguise the location very well and as you progress, becomes a very pleasant course to play. There are some tough par 3's, especially if the wind is against and some shortish par 4's which can, with a good hit, be driven in one. Only one par 5 which has a wicked right dog leg with some nicely placed water to stop you cutting the corner. The fairways are very good but a bit narrow. The rough though is decent enough not to punish any wayward drives. As for the greens, they vary - some really nice, some fast, some poor and some slow. The drainage system seems to work well as the afternoon I played it had been raining all morning and the greens were very dry! There are some well placed bunkers which come into play but not one fairway bunker strangely enough. There is however, a lot of water and placed in some very tough areas!! get your wellies on!! The facilities look ok and there is a very well stocked golf shop to match any i've been to. Overall, a decent course and although short, a very good test - especially when the wind blows. Some good though has gone into the design and there are some nice touches along the way. When the back nine is complete and the course matures a bit it has the potential to become a very decent course. I know i'll be back.
