What the club says: When Tyrrells Wood Golf Club was formed in 1924, the original course had been designed by five times Open Champion James Braid, one of the most respected and prolific course designers of his day. Improvements were also designed by Harry Colt. Although the course has undergone continuous improvement over the years, care has been taken to preserve Braid's unique approach to green and bunker design.
Tyrrells Wood is located on the edge of the North Downs and in common with much of the area has a chalk subsoil, which provides extremely good drainage. The typical downland nature of the area was transformed by the substantial tree planting programme implemented in the late 19th century, to provide a unique downland / parkland character.
Played here for the last year, in all formats, it is a great course very well looked after, a great place to play for any standard of player

Great course, bit hilly, but loved the walk in nice weather. Some difficult pin positions, but the layout was excellent!

A society day in glorious Autumn sunshine. Course in very good condition and with the trees changing colour beautiful to look at. Staff and food very good.

Real good challenge set in wonderful countryside. Favorite tee shot is the SI1 hole 14. beautiful. Can't wait to play again. And, £20 for a member's guest - it is a bargain. Whole experience topped by the best sausage sandwiches in the most idyllic grounds of the 19th. stunning.

Beautiful course with wonderfully kept greens. The 1st and 10th are particular highlights driving away from the 19th hole!
(Round played: Oct 2015 - Score: 79 Handicap: 11) WOW! The best 35 quid I've spent this year! I think we were on a 'saver' rate, but this course is truly a hidden gem. I'm even a little hesitant to give it such a great rating because it's quiet and free of high, scrappy handicappers. But if you get a chance - play it. But you need to be match-fit - it's a 6K yards course, but with the hills, it's more like 10K! Hopefully that'll put you hackers off ???? ?????? Oh yeh, and VERY friendly staff throughout and cudos to the Greenkeeper ????????

This was a very good course.
The tee boxes were level and neat greens ran true and fairways in great condition.
Would recommend to anyone and will be going back.

Like many of the fine old courses in the area they play differently than was intended upon their design 100 years ago, with modern equipment they are vulnerable to longer hitters and coming from my home course which is 600 yards longer i shot 7 under my handicap.
Bit of shame really but that does not detract from the fact that its a great course with plenty of variety, no 2 holes the same, changes in undulations, good quality, tricky quick greens to boot.
Conditioning was excellent as it should be at this time of the year.
Very nice terrace to sit outside the clubhouse with views over the course.
Remains one of my favourite courses, if you thinking about playing it do not hesitate.
