Played this in october. First round was on a lovely day but second was on a very wet second round. Facilities lovely but restaurant service was shocking.

Previous reviews have mentioned this as a course of 2 halves - quite right. First 9 feels very open but don't let this fool you in thinking it is easy, the knee high rough will sort you out. 2nd 9 more parkland and picturesque. A nice finish on 17/18 with water in play on both.
I didn't do the course justice - was just having an off day but would play the course again but not at list price.
This is a "luxury" resort so expect this to be reflected in the prices, in particular the bar prices but this does tend to be the theme at these places. We also struggled to find a lively bar so don't expect too much excitement in the evening.
Have rated VfM as good purely as we were on a weekend deal for £155 otherwise it would be fair or poor.

Interesting course, 2 completely different 9's. Very well kept and has coped well with all the rain we have been having. Some excellent holes and a tough challenge. Be prepared for a long walk, plenty of distance between holes.

Nice, fun course, particularly off yellows. Whites much harder. Quite expensive though given it is hotel attached and buggys are a rip-off

Tees and fairways in very good condition. The greens were poor I thought, they were slow and not very true at all. Clubhouse and facilities second to none

Great Weekend Getaway
The course to me never matched the grandeur of the hotel and clubhouse but it seems like the are addressing that now and the course is beginning to look more in keeping with the expectations you conjure up as you drive in.I was particularly impressed with the greens however I did not played my best I never seems to at this venue but none the less I enjoyed my round and the company that i was with.

Excellent welcome from the pro shop team, great bar and food facilities above on the terrace at Vardons. Course set up in great condition but two very different nine?s, the front much more spaced out with a more American links feel, whilst the back 9 is more traditional parkland with lush fairways compared to the harder and faster ones on the front. Good variety in the holes with plenty to think about and many of the greens with multiple tiers. Perfect venue for two rounds one night stay, hotels facilities and food all of a really good standard, would look to visit again.

Good staycation course
There are no real standout holes but you do get two different nines front and back. Greens were in very good order medium fast good grass on the fairways and tees(Round played: Aug 2021 - Score: 90 Handicap: 16.4)
