Hanbury Course (Marriott Hanbury Manor)
First built around the family home in 1890, the original Harry Vardon golf course has since been sympathetically re-designed by Jack Nicklaus II to create an unforgettable course. With its cleverly sited trees and several picturesque water hazards, the course at Hanbury offers a true challenge to anyone who enjoys their golf. It is a PGA European Tour venue, has played host to many important championships, and has been a regular venue for the English Open. There can be few greater golfing rewards than a good round on the 6,678 yard championship course.

Location
Location: *Exit M25 via ramp at sign reading "Exit 25, A10 to Enfield/Hertford" and go east for 0.4 miles. *Continue on Great Cambridge road, A10 North for half a mile. *Continue through traffic circle exiting on A10 for 11 miles. *Turn off the A10 at the A1170, signposted for Ware and Marriott Hanbury Manor. *Turn right at the first roundabout, signposted Thundridge and Marriott Hanbury Manor. *Marriott Hanbury Manor is 200 metres on the left.

Played this course as a qualifier for the Audi Quattro Cup, so didn't have to pay a green fee, which I heard is £90 per round.
Course was in great condition. Very interesting and varied holes, although quite easy off the yellow tees. I get the impression they could really cut the greens low and putting would be become very difficult for the average club golfer. As it was the greens were rolling true and not TOO fast.Value for money

Tees and fairways in very good condition. The greens were poor I thought, they were slow and not very true at all. Clubhouse and facilities second to none

Hadn't played for 5 years. Course was in lovely condition with super smooth greens, very impressive for late October. Nice wide fairways for big hitters, second shots tend to be more challenging. Stayed overnight inc brekkie dinner and two rounds for £145, a bargain. Food was excellent in the Grill for the money, watch the extras though like most chains they charge silly prices for drinks and extras.

This is a good course, long too. Front 9 quite forgiving and open, back 9 a little more challenging

Well kept course with a variety of challenges.
Front 9 is open and forgiving but the greens can appear small although true.
Back 9 is tighter and has more features including water on several holes.
Facilities are very good if expensive.

Im always a bit sceptical of corporate courses, but Hanbury Manor left me pleasantly surprised. The course was in great condition, the layout was good and the facilities were excellent.

Booked a weekend break to treat my father for his birthday-website was doing a deal of 36 rounds of golf, evening meal, bed n breakfast for £111 per person. This is an excellent deal-but stay off the cocktails at twelve pound a pop it certainly doesnt help the cash flow. The first hole is a daunting hole to start off with, but this course wld suit anyone who is consistent in hitting a ball straight. This course demands a great deal of course management, and often if you think 'im going to go for it' you inevitably end up dropping a few shots. I would definately agree with James Matthews. The par 5 ninth is a corker of a hole with strategically placed bunkers that really do test if like myself you are unfortunate to land in them. Its a beautiful course and would recommend the facilities and staff and course highly to anyone

Very good venue - good golf course and cracking hotel. Par 5 9th is perhaps the pick of the bunch for the holes and introduces a very good back 9.
