The Forest of Arden. Play it. You won't be disappointed
Away working and have wanted to play the FoA for a while and my new golf insurance offered a free round, so didn't pass up the chance. The Arden course was busy, so jumped on it's little sister course, Aylesford. Not as long as the Arden, but this is still a challenging course. There are some good holes that make club selection paramount. One par 5 on both 9's. Short par 4's may tempt, but streams, bunkers and trees force you to play sensible. The course plays longer than its 5900 yards, due to uphill or sloping fairways. It would be wrong to single out any holes as special as there are lot that are great and enjoyable to play when you stand in the tee. The proshop was well stocked as you would expect from a top venue and the staff I had the pleasure of meeting while there were very friendly and helpful. Special mention to Dave in the starters hut who gave me a good idea of what to expect during my round and the course layout plan by the first tee was helpful if you haven't played there before. All in all, for a free round of golf at a first rate venue, I couldn't complain and the Aylesford course is a good golf challenge. If you are here for 2 rounds, I'd play this first followed by the Arden course, as I've heard that is tougher. You won't regret playing the Aylesford. I certainly didn't.Reviewer Rating

Arden Course superb, Aylesford hard !
We played the Aylesford twice and the Arden once on a Golfbreak, I would have to say the Arden is so well kept it overshadows the Aylesford by a mile. However, try getting a good score around the Aylesford as for me that is the bigger challenge, whilst playing the Arden is a pleasure everybody should experience. Not just the roaming deer, but the lovely white sand bunkers, water holes and manicured fairways but the design of the holes and greens and finishing on the par 3 over the water towards the clubhouse. If you only have time to play one, pay extra for the Arden, believe me you won't be disappointed.Reviewer Rating

One of my Favourite Courses
The Arden course in my eyes is right up there. It really has it all. Great variety of holes. Greens as good as you'll find. Bunkers probably the best I've played out of. Stunning scenery. Really does tick every box for me. From the 8th hole onwards I don't think you will find a better stretch of holes. The 18th is one of the best finishing hikes you're likely to play. Five stars from me.Reviewer Rating

One of the best in the midlands
Great parkland track, with a heathland feel on the back 9. No weak holes, but lots of highlights throughout. Decent practice facilities as well, with access to highly regarded coaches such as alistair Davies and chris ryan.Reviewer Rating

Venue with lots of options
Lucky enough to play both courses a few weeks prior to the European Tour UK Swing event. The Arden was superb and in great condition and a lovely layout and challenge to play. It is also a typical resort style layout so nice and wide off the tees, plenty of hazards and nice big greens which were in excellent condition. Nice to finish with a par 3 over water as welll.
The Aylesbury is slightly shorter but provided several risk and reward holes and was also in great condition.
I'd highly recommend both courses if you are looking for somewhere to play in the area and you will find that the Arden and Aylesbury are priced accordingly for what they provide. With the hotel the venue provides a great option for a stay and play trip or even society golf outing and although I suspect it is often overlooked by its more famous neighbour make sure you look to play here at some point you won't be disappointed.
