A muddy day out in the rain which has affected all opinions I suppose. The people were very nice and would be prepared to give it another try in spring!!

Disapointing!

Only my second visit here but was very disappointed with the pace of play. Members just turning up and teeing off whenever they liked and on different holes! Quite a tight course and some tee boxes are very close to greens.

Haywards Heath revisited

Course in OK condition but in need of some attention particularly bunkers and fairways. Despite an awful back 9 I did enjoy the round which brought back memories of when I caddied there as a teenager 35 years ago.

Really nice course - very challenging, good variation, all in fantastic condition. Particularly enjoy the 18th with the green surrounded by bunkers. They have no tee booking for visitors but have played a dozen times and never waited to tee off. My only beef is the cost - they've recently massively increased the green fees - I was quoted £38 for late on a Sunday afternoon when I probably wouldn't have been able to squeeze in 18 holes! Shame, they seem to have decided they don't want visitors. I went to Lindfield and paid £12.50 instead.

Nice layout but leaves everywhere slowed down play searching for balls. Some well protected green complexes.

Course generally o.k. Greens had a lot of top dressing on them, so were slow. Bunkers lacking sand and in poor condition.

This is a pleasant little course, not very long but testing all the same, needs careful consideration where you're putting the ball to get round in a low score.
The greens showed no sign of disease as the above post states, they seem to have resolved this issue. However the greens were pretty slow, this may be due to the continual rain we're having at the moment.
Bunkers are very average.

A good challenge

Great course and a good challenge. Tight fairways and greens were in good shape.

Little gem of a course!

Played the week before clock change and considering coming off winter and a load of wet weather the course was in great nick. Tee boxes and Greens were in great condition for time of year, and fairways were good which is a credit to grounds staff. We really liked the layout and flow of the course. Yes there’s a walk back at 14/15 but there really isn’t a weak hole and quite a few standouts. Particularly liked the run from 5 to 9. With 5 a fun short par 4 down hill where longer hitters can go for green), 6 a testing par 4, 7 and 9 both excellent par 3s and 8 a cracking par 5 which offers some risk/return if you can hit long enough. The course then gets harder for 10-13 before throwing in some very scoreable holes to finish. Although it was closed for off season the halfway hut is in a great spot, we’ll be back for a mid round hot dog and a drink next time! The course I believe is 100 years old this year and although there’s no fanfare the clubhouse was a delight inside with all the history on the walls and cosy seating in the bar. Shout out to the staff who were great from pro shop to club house. End of round Guinness after a wet finish was heaven! Will definitely be back on next visit to East Sussex.

Good local course

Not been here for some time and pleasantly surprised at price and condition considering the amount of frost and rain. Green in top condition but a bot slow but again that is due to rain. Didn't visit the bunkers but some had standing water. Tees were excellent and all in play.

The greens were excellent, however the rough was still very wet and fairways have suffered from the winter but are coming back. Tough stretch of holes 10-13 includes two par 4's over 450 yards and a par three 220 yards uphill

Playing here for second time on a society day. Well looked after by the club. Course in good condition. Obvs dry in places given lack of any rain recently but no issue to playability. Greens were a bit slower than expected but were fine. Interesting layout though some of the internal OOB is a little odd in places. Well worth playing and will head back in due course.
