Played this course for first time today (Aug 2014) I really enjoyed it, greens ran nicely and fairways were in great condition.
I thought the layout was good, giving a wide variety of different club selection off each tee.
It's the type of course where you need to work out a certain route toward the green, with plenty of trees, bunkers and water hazards you can't just straight line it to the hole.
Very suitable for beginners like myself as it's quite flat, wide fairways and a great price at £10 through Teeofftimes.co.uk
Will definitely play here again.

Played there a few times recently with my dad and a few friends. Very reasonable price for a course like this. Very well maintained greens and just a great course to play. The shop there is well stocked for all the basics and the pro there was very helpful when it came to finding a good driver for me. The clubhouse there also does great food when you've finished your round - so much so I've been there since just for dinner!

Been to Ferndown Forest a few times now and it is certainly the best value in the area. I wasn't expecting much considering the modest pay and play fee but I was surprised how good it was.

I understand it has gone through some recent improvements and there are more to follow.

I've booked in a few lessons on the driving range which is pretty good value also. They use a fancy bit of software to analyse your swing etc and I am in the process of getting some custom made clubs - also excellent value for money.

I don't normally play too much over the winter but next year I will become a member for sure.

Ferndown Forest is a fun & challenging course that represents good value for money. Not the longest of courses but still tricky in places, it requires intelligent golf without being too difficult.

Atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. I popped into the pro shop to pay my green fees and buy some more golf balls and I found the resident pro to be very friendly and helpful.

I am considering upgrading my golf clubs and the shop has an excellent selection of clubs for a mid handicapper like myself and the prices I looked at, couldn't be beaten online. They also offer a custom fitting service, using flightscope, which I think is a must if you're looking to buy a new set of clubs these days and isn't
something many places offer.

Will definitely be back soon!

Get here if you can. A tight and challenging course with trees, water and bunkers in nice locations. Greens are small and sloping.

Don't think the length makes it soft. Plenty of doglegs guarded by everything from trees to gorse bushes mean shot placement is paramount. You need to know how far your shorts irons go!

Great food and drink at Inn on the Tin (beware the spicy chilli con carne!) and really friendly members. The ladies who patiently followed behind us came and had a chat and asked us what we thought of the course and recommended the big breakfast!

I will definitely return when I get the chance.

Tee'd off at 0.6.30 this morning. Greens in very good condition and the fairways whilst not overly wide are in excellent condition for this time of year.
Whilst there are lots of trees and bushes, it is also a very forgiving course for the wayward.
This is an excellent heathland course and I would recommend it to anyone wishing to have a days carefree golfing.
Apart from the course, there is a fully stocked golf shop, a Chinese restaurant and The Inn on the Tin pub, after the 18th not only does a good beer, but the best breakfast/lunch that you could ever wish to eat. Give it a try.

Challenging Short Course

This course has a lot going for in terms of value and condition. A full 18 holes with a mix of par 3s 4s and the odd 5 it has woods, water and ditches to present a reasonable challenge to most golfers whilst still maintaining its friendliness to those that are new to the game. The fairways and greens are very well maintained and the bard and food facilities are likewise very good. Well worth a visit but pick your moments as it can get quite busy

Good challenging course in good condition

Good challenging course in good condition.
Location of the greens not always apparent.
Game slightly spoilt by quite a few young players in buggies who were a bit short on etiquette.

Good golf course however it does stay open when it should be closed in poor conditions. However it is a good value fun course that does offer a round when others are ahut.

Short Course, testing but confidence building

The course although short in yardage, it testing enough to challenge a mid handicapper like me, but at the same time has plenty of Birdie/Par opportunities to help build confidence. I usually play as a 2 -ball and comfortably complete a round in just over 3 hours. Staff are great, course is inexpensive would highly recommend.
