This is not a course for big hitters, yet good for concentrating on your safe playing. We found that is was best to play the safe hand due to a narrow and sometimes very constricting layout.
The fairway are surprisingly open once you are away from the tees, have to be careful of the amount of natural hazards due to the plentiful drainage ditches that just eat balls.
The greens where in a reasonable condition when we played with the first nine in a lot better condition, the tees though where in a poor condition. Which in fairness I think is a direct result from the sandy soil and the fact they are covered in mats for winter season.
The pub/clubhouse is great value with friendly staff and great food.
Overall I would say that this is a very interesting course, may not have the quality of playing condition of either Christchurch or new forest. But it makes you concentrate on your game a lot more with a far harsher punishment for mistakes or greedy shots. The Course

Get here if you can. A tight and challenging course with trees, water and bunkers in nice locations. Greens are small and sloping.
Don't think the length makes it soft. Plenty of doglegs guarded by everything from trees to gorse bushes mean shot placement is paramount. You need to know how far your shorts irons go!
Great food and drink at Inn on the Tin (beware the spicy chilli con carne!) and really friendly members. The ladies who patiently followed behind us came and had a chat and asked us what we thought of the course and recommended the big breakfast!
I will definitely return when I get the chance. The Course

Better now off usual tees (rather than mats) and the added length a tester. Said it before, yardage markers and a yardage book would make for a far more enjoyable round even for high handicappers like myself and would certainly aid better scoring.
Three rounds here, 106, 98 & 89. Some greens could be better - two ball @ £30 very good value. The Course

Enjoyable round if a little slow. Yardage book would be very useful as would on course yardage markers. Some holes do not appear to carry the yardage suggested on the scorecard. Greens a little bumpy.
Not far off a great little course but lacking some of the "basic" things (above) that should really be standard. That said looking forward to playing here again, nice mixture of straightforward and tricky holes and some great driveable par 4's.The Course

Good course for the short hitters. Two par fives reachable in two if you get it correct. Three for most of us. The short par three`s have water traps and bunkers gaurding the approuch. You need to be straight with your drives as the fairways are norrow. Trees line the way to the holes and some big ones just in the wrong place, or the right place to catch you out. Greens are in fair condition. Club house and driving range as well. Overall a good course.

Only a couple of prolems with this course being the greens are small and patchy, lots of fern leaves, twigs etc on the greens, making long tricky because of this. The fairways are close together so it's tight in places so listen to the 4's being called.
Other than those it's not to demanding a very flat course so easy on the legs. Perfect to tighten the short game.

A wooded course with some tight fairways. Greens can be patchy in places with wooded debris.

Not the longest of courses but it is developing, adding new Tees - some a little strange.Driving range is excellent, very friendly staff and very helpful.Norman ( the pro ) is very approachable and knowledgable and he has a good team with him.

Tee'd off at 0.6.30 this morning. Greens in very good condition and the fairways whilst not overly wide are in excellent condition for this time of year.
Whilst there are lots of trees and bushes, it is also a very forgiving course for the wayward.
This is an excellent heathland course and I would recommend it to anyone wishing to have a days carefree golfing.
Apart from the course, there is a fully stocked golf shop, a Chinese restaurant and The Inn on the Tin pub, after the 18th not only does a good beer, but the best breakfast/lunch that you could ever wish to eat. Give it a try.The Course

This course has improved beyond all recognition. Although not a long course it has holes that punish the wayward and gives bonuses to the straight hitters.
I notice that the greens have been given a bad review which is a shame as they have been excellent all summer, with the hard working ground staff improving them all the time.
I think in years to come this will be one of Dorsets little gems!!The Course

Not an easy course for a high handicapper, made more so by the trenches now dug on fairways to improve drainage! Lots of trees and bushes to tempt you!
If there are two things that need to be done on this course, it is the improvement of greens, currently in poor shape and improved definition of fairways-most look like short rough! The Course
