Hottest day of the year - twilight round. The course is well maintained and has some interesting and demanding holes. It is excellent value for money - especially for seniors.

Very good course for a pay and play, tee boxes a bit hit and miss but generally a nice course in nice surroundings.

Good round but was told it was twilight at 4 but when we got there they said twilight started at 5. This was not a great way to start the round but we enjoyed the course

Looked good from driveway ,parked then tried to find somewhere to pay,no signage, reception area reminded me of a Southend cafe but without the menus. No signage to 1st tee, putting green absolute rubbish, our thoughts on first green oh this must of been vandalised and repaired NO this was the best, what have these grass cutters been doing (hibernating I suggest) .the course was very stuffy and I can't see it getting any better my 7 other friends potential revenue ,won't be back !!

Was an open day so it was free. Course was good with large greens, although one was under repair. Fairly open course so good for beginners

Course generally in good condition. Greens still recovering from recent hollow tyining but, nevertheless were still true. 4th green currently out of use. Temp green in play. 9th green in use but large part has been re seeded. Not currently GUR. Reception is still a portacabin but hopefully that will change shortly. No facilities otherwise.

Played here just after heavy wet month so wasn't expecting much out the course really but have to say that most greens were ok little spongy and only one green half under water . Not a great course to play in winter as it's a bit open but some nice holes not much in the way of hazards just the odd person using public footpaths so beware on what is now the 11th as path is within driving distance !! Club hadn't much in the way of practise areas poor warm up nets that need replacing and putting green was woeful grass was way too long and needed work so you couldn't get a feel for putting till after first few holes but does have a grass practise area . Reception was warm and welcoming for a temp hut while club house is re built but round is cheap at £29-22 in week given it's in competition with verulem gc it does come in second to them as worth paying £35 to play a better course but in summer months and less rain still a good track .

Not a particularly well maintained course but it has a few interesting holes on it that pose a challange to a mid to high level handicapper.
There is a discount on this course if you are a local resident so look out for that. You can also purchase a block of gren fees at 50% of the standard fee that you can use monday-friday.
There is no clubhouse as it is part of a lesiure center complex. There is access to changing room facilities, showers, toilets, vending machines and a small coffee bar. They have a limited range of golfing related items such as tees and practice balls.
Overall, its not a bad place to play for the money it charges and it will be tricky enough for a mid to high level handicapper.

Quite a nice course for the money with some interesting holes.
However, I cannot but feel that as this is a Tennis first place and so the golf course does not seem to fit in with the business. I think that it needs more attentive management to repair the traffic damage and in particular to get the grass cut. For our viist the greens had not been cut that day (perhaps even not the day before) and so it had that feeling of a seaside pitch & putt place. Pity really as so many things are good.
The facilities that you would expect of a golf course (like a bar) simply do not exist.

This course is on the way up and has improved significantly over the last year. More needs to be done, but the greens are now good if slow. The putting green can now be used to practice putting rather than chipping. Grrenstaff are visible and doing a good job. Pricing is too low for the quality of the course.

Needs some TLC
Played here because it is cheap for Seniors.
Course needs some TLC it is in a poorer condition than when I played here last year,
Tee boxes very rough and used, (Yellow Tees), Fairways not up to standard, Bunkers need a lot of work virtually all have grass in them, Greens Very slow but true.

Free round of golf through my golf insurance. Practice facilities, included a couple of practice nets and a putting area that was fairly large, but to putt on was impossible. It was terrible. The course for the time of year was in pretty decent condition. The fairways were ok, could have done with a cut though. The tee-boxes were fine, a couple of mats, but I've played on worse. Bunkers though were pretty poor, no sand really to mention. The saving grace for the course are the greens. They were in really good condition and very good to putt on. For a council owned course, it wasn't too bad. With a little more investment, care and work, it could be a very good course. There's a good mix of holes, with long par-3's and par-4's to test your game. There is a clubhouse, but I couldn't get into it. Keycode on the door. I think it's a members only clubhouse. Payment is in the sports centre reception, no cash payments. I may consider returning in the summer to see how the course plays then. Good value for money, as it didn't cost me anything.

Play this course regularly. Normally in good condition. There had been no rain for several days. Then after a short shower the front 9 holes became a mess. Called mud on the fairways plus loads of leaf litter. Trolley wheels absolutely clogged. 9th hole, a par 3 is downhill to the green. The tee box has been moved several times of the last few years and the old tee boxes fenced off. The current tee box, which appears to be temporary despite having been there for 2 yrs has a 10 degree slope downhill. No attempt has been made to level it off. I feel the course should have been closed due to the general condition but it is a council course so maybe there is no onexto make that decision.
