Range balls

Hi,
My wife and I visited your range today, the range is fine , but the balls we were given
to use, can only be described as disgusting and unfit for purpose, they should be
binned a.s.a.p.

New management

The new manager does not like replying to genuine emails, his staff cannot even give you prices of tee times for 9 holes because they don't want you playing 9 holes even though the back 9 is in bad condition.
Paul the manager is not good at customer services.
Sorry will not be paying to play here again with such rude management.

Swamp

Paid £16 to walk around a swamp. Walked off after 5 holes and spoke to the pro who was Director of the club. Couldn’t have been more ignorant if he tried. He said if the greens are fine the course is okay. I had no issue with greens but it was impossible to get to them. Was not willing to give me a refund so I have paid £16 to walk 5 holes through puddles. The place is a mess and staff uncooperative. Not coming back and I advise everyone to steer well clear.

Greenkeepers must be on holiday!

Played on 02/07. Used to travel a few times a year to this club on a Sunday but stopped going due to it being very popular as it was good value for money. This was the first time I have been in 2 years and will have to be my last! The greens, tees, fairways and rough looked like they have not been cut in a week! You had to whack the ball when on the greens. Very poor.

Very disappointing visit

Being local and they advertise the academy course, £5 week or £6 weekend for a field with a mowed patch for greens with footgolf green along side. Shop guy was really helpful.

The range is £1 for 25 balls, the balls must be 27 years old? Honestly save you £1

The course is £16 week or £22 weekends or £10 for 9 holes, I love golf but I'd rather cut my clubs in half, there's so much better on offer elsewhere.

This course is not very well maintained, fairways are ok but tee boxes are poor, greens ok, bunkers look they have not been touched in years. There are weeds and grass growing out of all the bunkers and it looks like no one ever rakes them.

Unloved

Played a social round with work colleagues.
On arrival the first thing that i noticed was how run down the clubhouse is. Old honours boards and piles of worn out clubs dumped in the corner.
As i arrived early, i expected at least to be able to purchase a hot bacon bap...only to be told nothing avalilable. The manager was sitting with a laptop with his feet up on the bench seat.
The course is under ownership from a charity, bought a few years back. I know Rome wasnt built in a day but the basics cost little. The driving range that is due for a rebuild didn't even have a rubber tee for diver in any bay. The course its self was average with decent greens. The long walk between tee boxes was confusing as the signage was sparce. Reduce the amount of buggies & invest in things like the wooden tee markers that were all faded. I think major money is needed to bring some love too this place. Would not rush back.

Hi Dave. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

Sorry you had a bad experience that you felt warranted a 1.5 star rating. We are fully aware of the situation with our clubhouse, and have planning permission already in place to make huge improvements. We unfortunately inherited a pretty dated clubhouse that had a lot of issues that needed fixing just to be operational and that took some initial investment without much changing on the way of aesthetics. As you've stated Rome wasn't built in a day, and we are hoping to make more improvements that would make a huge difference to how it looks and much more vibrant environments for our customers!

I would kindly ask that you send me details with the day you played and what time, as there shouldn't be a time that you are refused a bacon bap. We are very limited with what we can offer in the kitchen due to small size of our team, however, there should never be a time when nothing is available.

I would also like to hear a more detailed explanation as to where you were confused between tee boxes. This is the first is feedback I have had on players being confused, and with us looking at hole layout this winter, it would be good to hear where this was that you got confused so it can be taking into consideration.

We invested in the golf course first before taking over, and the course this year has been nothing short of brilliant. I understand I am look through biased eyes, but the reviews on here and google tell us that the golf course has been brilliant, and not just the greens. The golf course being a priority was a good move, and we hope to bring the rest of the facilities to level we expect this winter.

The tee markers you speak about were new back in Spring when the golfing season started. We have changed our tee colours to Black, White and gold. The current marker will be replaced each Spring, but I will look into the current ones being faded as you said, because they are no more than 8 months old!

If you could please send me an email with some more detail on the requested points, it would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully then I can give you some more information on the areas you've highlighted. My email is [email protected].

We can then hopefully invite you back to play once a lot of the work this winter has been completed and you have much different experience!
