Golf course review of Rockliffe Hall Golf Club

This is a relatively new course and when the many young trees planted aournd the fairways mature, it could become a great one. I played here in February, which exaggerated the already substantial length of the course (over 7800 off the back tees), but it was no less enjoyable. Well-designed holes with strategically placed bunkers and water coming in to play on sevral parts of the course, including the 181-yard island green 5th. The course has clearly been designed with professional events in mind (3 of the par 3s are over 600 yards) and there is talk of a bid to stage the Ryder Cup here.
The hotel is terrific and has beautiful rooms, an excellent restaurant and impressive pool and spa facilities. This makes it ideal as a golf break destination and its location near the A1 and the rail links to Darlington make it pretty easy to get to.

Golf course review of Rockliffe Hall Golf Club

The course is excellent and the staff very welcoming. a Couple of longish walks between tees but refreshments available half way round near the driving range. Could not have wished for better weather hotest day of the year so far 19 degrees and next to no wind. This is a totally different course if you had to play off the Gold Tees. Can be expensive but sign up for newsletter online and they do send some offers. Great course well worth a visit.

Golf course review of Rockliffe Hall Golf Club

Played here on Corporate day, courtesy of company (thankfully!!)
Was like playing in America again to be honest.
Service was great, range facilities fantastic (although the speed of greens on chipping area jinxed me for first few holes!)
Course was magnificent though, played long, even from the red tees. Fairways were immaculate, bunkers huge and scary (but not ridiculous), greens were fast and challenging but again not to silly proportions.
Cant wait to come back here and play again.

Golf course review of Rockliffe Hall Golf Club

Great faciities and staff welcome. Lots of greenside bunkers but in good condition so playable. Need to be good with high pitching shots, Sally Gunnels will find bunkers. Greens are fast, fairways well mown and drained. I've been couple of times on corporate days but i believe its expensive for visitors, but, its a top class course with top class facilities.

Golf course review of Rockliffe Hall Golf Club

Extremely good course, in great condition for a course only opened a couple of months ago (June 09). A couple of longish walks from greens to tees as can often be found on resort type courses doesn't spoil the experience, especially when you get to the next tee to find a cool box of fresh fruit available! A challenge off yellow tees so would love to see the pros take it on from the gold tees at 7,800yrds!! The clubhouse and its facilities are immaculate, staff very friendly and once the hotel and spa are complete it will become a top class golf experience. Priced at the top end of the market but what you'd expect to pay for uncrowded golf at such a venue.
