Best course in the Northeast by a way i would say... i\'ve played atleast 40, probably 50 of them in the last 5 years. This time round the greens were sanded which was a disappointment but we knew that in advance. Ordinarily immaculate. We got a bit of a deal at £45 incl tea and a roll as a group and because of the greens being sanded, but the standard walk in price off the street is still a bit high. It could be argued that\'s a good thing i suppose... keeping the course from being overrun. Either way, excellent course and general set-up... worthy of a good reputation

This is a relatively new course and when the many young trees planted aournd the fairways mature, it could become a great one. I played here in February, which exaggerated the already substantial length of the course (over 7800 off the back tees), but it was no less enjoyable. Well-designed holes with strategically placed bunkers and water coming in to play on sevral parts of the course, including the 181-yard island green 5th. The course has clearly been designed with professional events in mind (3 of the par 3s are over 600 yards) and there is talk of a bid to stage the Ryder Cup here.
The hotel is terrific and has beautiful rooms, an excellent restaurant and impressive pool and spa facilities. This makes it ideal as a golf break destination and its location near the A1 and the rail links to Darlington make it pretty easy to get to.

The course is excellent and the staff very welcoming. a Couple of longish walks between tees but refreshments available half way round near the driving range. Could not have wished for better weather hotest day of the year so far 19 degrees and next to no wind. This is a totally different course if you had to play off the Gold Tees. Can be expensive but sign up for newsletter online and they do send some offers. Great course well worth a visit.
