Lovely weather
Ground very boggy but then that’s to be expected, greens are fast and getting better after the disease, all in all a pleasant round, I’m sure within the next few weeks once the ground has dried up the course will be back to its best, according to the app I use the 150 markers on some of the holes are as much as 20 yards out.(Round played: Mar 2019 - Score: 45 Handicap: )

New Ownership.
This has been my local course since I could first hold a club however I'd never shout about it being my favourite course for a few reasons. However the course is now under new ownership and I couldn't imagine better people for it! They've improved the course no end already and from what they have been promising it's going to just keep getting better. Lovely people too.The only major downside at the minute is the fact there is no clubhouse (due to a fire a few years back).

Sadly the course does seem to attract a few people who seem to struggle with pace of play issues, sharing a bag of clubs is a common sight there, as are single players dawdling along playing more than one ball.
Playing through seems to be a foreign concept, and as the club gets busier as it improves, I would imagine the management will have to take measures to address these, and one or two on course safety issues.
This said, good luck to Barlborough golf club, it's good to see a local course on the up for a change.

Good layout of course, facilities non-existence, fairways good condition, but greens need work.

Drainage is much better than of old, fairways generally good, greens need some work, but I reckon £7 for 9 varied holes is spot on for an enjoyable mornings golf.
I keep reading how easy this course is, then I look at the scores posted and I wonder if it's so simple after all, truth is the course is quite straightforward in appearance, and not overly long & quite generous off the tees, but shooting around par even for single figure players requires some precision, it's easy to get out of position and bogey a hole on this course. The lack of heavy rough and thick trees, and of course no bunkers, probably mean not so many triple bogeys or worse, but I do know most golfers around here are shooting scores in the mid forties or worse, which for a "simple" par 35 seems a lot.
Stroke index 1 on the course is a 400+ yard par 4, uphill all the way, into the wind most days, out of bounds on the left, thick trees on the right, and in the wet it's a really wicked hole, as hard as any hole in Derbyshire. The final hole is a real beauty too, requiring a precise tee shot and challenging second.
I would say you'll use every club in your bag around these 9 holes, which is always a good sign.
Most people will have played here at some time, and I suspect often had a bad experience or two in the past, but I urge you all to give it another chance and stick by the new owners and see what can be achieved here. Surely no one wants to see another local course close down, remember Birch Hall?

Not bad for a course which is popular but today we could have done with wellingtons, greens ok for time of year.
