Suffering!

Greens and Tees are in good shape.

The rest of the course is in terrible condition.

Most of the fairways are completely dead except the ones you can see before you pay, those ones are getting watered. Tight lies doesn’t really explain it enough. If you know the course I got an 8 iron from the tee pretty much on the 7th green, that’s a 300 odd yard sharp dogleg left downhill par 4. More akin to crazy golf at the moment. The fairways are best described as Lino on concrete.

Chipped one out of the trees on the right of the 6th landed it just before the fairway, It rolled gently onto the fairway and then slowly rolled its way across the fairway and off the other side, then down the hill.

As for the bunkers well they look nice, fresh beach sand for once. When you try to play a shot out of one you soon realise it’s quite often only an inch or so deep before you hit a rock or the hard stuff underneath.

It’s very close to unplayable.
Wait a good week after we get some heavy rain and it might recover.

Slow play!

The course is very good, but the round was completely spoilt by incredibly slow play which the marshalls appeared to do nothing to address. Five and a half hours to complete 18 holes, and the society group ahead of us had no idea about repairing pitch marks or raking bunkers (someone even thought it would be fun to write his name in one with his footprints!). The club just seem to be happy to squeeze as many people on the course as they can and take your money.

Went here with a golf society and the course was pretty good and the greens in good condition with some challenging putting. The worst aspects of the course was the absolutely disgusting conditions of the pathways between the hols which virtually ruined my electric trolley as it got so beaten about, they are without doubt the worst paths I have ever experienced on any course I have ever played and for this reason alone I would not wish to return unless I was using one of their buggies or trolleys instead of wrecking my own.

I have played Westerham many times and never seen the course in such poor condition. The greens were the worst ones that I have played on for a very long time, bumpy and badly pitted. The rough was a mixture of overlong grass and bald patches, literally a hack out. Some of the fairways were like a bog and most of the bunkers had little sand in them.Clearly the course has been grossly overplayed during the current wet weather.

Far too busy. Took three and a half hours to do front nine. Only managed to finish because people ahead of us gave up an walked off. Up to 25 minute wait on some tees. Will never go back.

Nice course ruined by slow play. Had heard rumours of 5 hour rounds but thought would try it anyway. Gave up after 15th and drove the buggy back to clubhouse as so slow. Desperately needs some marshalls out there. Avoid..

I visited Westerham in the winter and the course was in poor condition and doesn't seem to be particularly well looked after. Myself and a friend used a Groupon voucher to play which included driving range balls to warm up with. When we arrived we were told that the machine had run out of balls and we weren't able to use them. We were also advised that as we'd arrived early we could go straight to the tee as it was 'clear'. This was not the case by any means and we had an incredibly slow round considering it was a weekday.

On finishing our round at approx 4pm, we went to the bar for a drink and a bit of food, only to be told the kitchen had closed.

All in all it was a very disappointing experience and I would not recommend playing this course at full price. In fact, I wouldn't recommend this course at all. Shame.

Excellent Greens

The greens were in excellent condition despite no rain, a testament to the green-staff.
The food in the clubhouse was poor, maybe they had too much going on, a wedding and at least 3 other societies.

I's hate to play this in a dry summer as I don't the greens will give you a chance. Maybe the flags would move but so many are on two-tier greens at the bottom of the lower tier leaving you no chance. And given that some of the fairways are so narrow it's questionable whether this is a fair test of golf. The course is in very good shape given the winter and the clubhouse and facilities are good.

Well what can I say, just returned home from Westerham Golf Course and to say I was less than impressed is an understatement. They have advertised on their website and Facebook as well as twitter, that twilight and a buggy is £25, we were not only refused this and had to pay £30, after playing the first nine, extra players joined ahead of us and lead to it taking over an hour to complete only 2 holes! We returned to the clubhouse where the on duty manager was less than helpful and refused to offer an apology of any kind. This is a shame as the society has enjoyed playing other course in the Altonwood Group and now will not return after the poor customer service we received.
