What the club says: Welwyn Garden City Golf Course measures 6,112 yards off the back tees and in an undulating parkland setting, the course at first sight seems a relatively easy test of golf. With narrow fairways and small greens there are many scorecards that tell a different story.

The course was in great condition.Far better than The Grove that I played 3 days earlier. At a quarter of the price too.Half way house was really good and at a great price. (Round played: Aug 2014 - Score: 80 Handicap: 9.2)

Quite short by modern standards but made up for by tough par 3's, small greens and tight fairways. Course always presented well with very pretty stretch of wooded holes on back nine. A good pitcher would score well here but an errant driver would suffer.

Great course good test of golf, really fast true small greens you can see why this club produces so many good golfers the course tests every part of your game you especially need to be accurate and have a good short game. Staff were very friendly especially in the pro shop the pro even gave us his insight on how to play the course a nice touch as most pro's we have come across on our travels seem to show us little interest.

Generally in good condition. BUT greens had recently been hollow-tined which made them very slow, uneven and unpredictable. (Round played: Mar 2013 - Score: 90 Handicap: 14.6)

WGC Departee rated 2 out of 5 - Feb 23 2013
I am a member and agree with the other members comments. WGC GC suffers from it's limited length in the modern game and is a little straight. Grounds staff do a good job managing this with mowing patterns against the direction of play, narrowing fairways and keeping slick greens but I suspect, with ever advancing technology, this will become an increasingly redundant course for younger longer players. You can only dine out on it being Nick Faldo's first course for so long! Membership is heavily weighted to the older generation and as such rounds can be very slow at peak periods. Members / visitors also seem to be unaware of course etiquette with pitch marks and stray balls being a real issue! Unfortunately, the problems are further exacerbated by some poor choices for committee members who seem to be interested in personal gains rather than the improvement of the club. I shall be moving on this year.

I'm a member at W.G.C. golf club and find the course changes dramatically from week to week. Unfortunatly for non-members green fees have increased because of the great demand of money to keep the club going. The course, like in th description, has narrow fairways but this is contemplated by many flatish greens with only the 10th posing a great challenge for a putt. The greens also hve many big humps in them eg. the 2nd.
