Years ago this course looked as though it could mature to be very good. Having gone back recently it seems to have been allowed to fall into a very poor condition. The greens are some of the worst I've ever played on. Numerous societies made it take an age to get round. The staff are incredibly rude. A great shame as to what has happened there. There's much better courses in the area, such as Bentley. The changing room also smelt really bad. Like an open sewer.
Ps. You'll need a tractor to navigate the car park. Pot holes the size of swimming pools. Another sign that no money has been spent for some time. The Course

I will have to agree with Christopher, the course and especially the greens were in a bad way, very disappointing. Might be better in summer, but i would keep clear in wet winter conditions.

Where do i start, Advertised in the Essex Golfer Magazine £15.00 per round during week, got there charged us £18.00, now i dont mind the extra £3.00 if its worth it, but this course was a disgrace.
no-1 they say they never use temporary greens, wrong, hole 3 was a temporary green.
no-2 they say they never use temporary tee's, wrong again there was at least half a dozen temporary tee's.
The fairway's were not in great condition due to recent rain, however i have played half a dozen different courses this winter and none of them have been as bad, now i have left the worst complaint to last, the greens were an absolute mess, with patches all over, it was lucky dip on each putt as they had some sort of disease on the greens, its a shame as some of the holes looked fantastic but was severely let down by poor drainage on fairways and diseased greens.
While i was over there i phoned Risebridge G.C. which is only a couple of miles down the road and booked a tee time for Saturday at 12.18, the price £9.00 per person as its twilight, half the price Ive just payed for here and its at the weekend. I know which course i would recommend and it ain't Weald Park. The Course

Great course, great value for money....only problem i encountered was that they had no course planner, no maps on the back of the score cards and no hole lay out maps on the tee boxes......got a bit silly trying to work out where the hole goes !!!!

Managed to play Sunday morning, £ 25 + Bacon roll. No driving range and very poor nets to swing in. Course is a fair challenge, though for some reason the greens were very wet, and therefore I guess slow for August. Greens on the whole disappointing, as so soft many pitch marks and a number of geese droppings to negotiate. Not a long course, and a couple of par 4s where a 6 or 7 iron is all that is required from the tee. But for the price, a nice change and would return.

A good course with plenty of challenges. The greens and bunkers could be a little better kept but there is plenty of water with lakes and ditches to ensure position is important and with some stunning views of the country side, Weald Park offers something different everytime you play. From the old Tree on the first to the dog leg 16th to the carp under the foot bridge leading to the 18th tee. Highly recommended

A wet and cold day but overall I had a great round at weald park. The course is very hilly and it is not unusual to play to greens that are higher or lower than your ball. The course is fairly forgiving although there are some holes that makes you think, especially off the tees where grabbing the driver is not always appropriate. Negatives include small winter tees, unkept bunkers that they may be in the process of removing but right now look like an eye sore and some greens need work (but it is winter so expect this to imporve come season). Hope to return to this course in the future, £15 after 12pm is very good value.

Good layout but in very poor repair, some of the disused bunkers looked like building sites, greens were extremily poor, would not go back again.

Weald is a gem. Not long, but you need to position your ball for the approach. The simple holes 1 and 2 will lull you into a false sense of ease. Then hole 3, 4, and 5 bring you back to reality about what could have been ... if only the tee-shot was longer or more accurate, or both. It may not look it on the card, hole no. 10 is hardest: impossible to get to safely in two shots, and the third needs to find a small green with a beach-front and wild wilderness right behind. Sadly Weald lacks the "TLC" that it deserves and this shows particularly in bunkers and on the greens. Lately (July 09) things have improved (there's new sand in most bunkers). A true golfing challenge and currently priced as great value.

very good test of golf, all of the holes are a different challenge where you need to think about your shots. Not just pull out the "big stick" on every hole
