"How does the Meadow flower its bloom unfold? Because the lovely little flower is free down to its root, and in that freedom bold". There can be little doubt that as Wordsworth penned this famous line his mind was cast to the imperious view of the 3rd fairway at Meadow Lane Golf Club. In awe stood this son of Cumberland, enchanted by the magnificent spectacle of rolling countryside, intertwined with 18 holes of unrivaled beauty laid out before him. Indeed, legend has it that so enchanted was Wordsworth that he snap hooked a 3 wood into some light scrub.

A seriously good course. Will definitely be visiting again.

Invited on a society day and never played here before. Arrived at a nice club house with views across fields from the restaurant. Nice breakfast washed down with plenty of tea and coffee.
The course is on the shorter side but some very interesting holes. Nice use of water, trees and blind dog legs. The course was a bit hard with fairways and greens being very hard to hold. The greens definitely needed some water !!!!
I really enjoyed the course and would like to play it again maybe after a wet day !!!!
For a public course it was well looked after and kept clean and tidy. A thumbs up from me.
To finish off with delicious steak and ale pie with plenty of steak.

Nice course to play with some challenging holes and a nice club house for a relaxing drink afterwards.

I was recommended Top Meadow by a friend and was not disappointed. The course is kept in fantastic condition and more than meets any golfers standards and expectations from high to low handicap players, even though some holes can be tricky to play, it remains more than enjoyable. The Greens were in lovely condition and played exceptionally well. The facilities are also very accommodating but best of all the value for money is outstanding and I could not recommend a course that matches it in the area. Highly recommend!

Played Easter Monday in a 4 ball. Weather good with long sunny spells but with wind picking up ahead of the bad weather which arrived after we had finished.
Lovely course, fairly flat and as other reviewers has said, lots of dog-legs. If you haven't played before probably worth investing £3.50 in a course planner. We didn't and were feeling our way around the course hitting shots over trees which we thought might take out the dog-leg only to find bunkers.
Only minor criticism is the greens weren't the best but at £16 for a round on a Bank Holiday at 10:45 you really cannot complain.

Played in a 2 ball midweek and got round in 4 hours, felt like we had the course to ourselves. I had a nightmare on some holes but this still didn't ruin my day, great course with lots of water and tight fairways and doglegs on many of the holes. Club selection important and course good management needed. Only one small moan would be the state of the greens, in places very marked up but if golfers would repair pitch marks this would not be as bigger problem as it is. Fairways excellent and bunkers in very good nick. Value for money outstanding as we only paid £8 each which is the cheapest round of golf I have ever paid for. Will definitely be returning soon

First time I have played it, a long walk between a lot of the holes, the greens were a bit dissapointing although I would defiantly go back, very reasonable prices.

Played a 2 ball mid June 2011 at just after 3.00pm, firstly I would like to comment that the club is fantastic value for money at £30 between the two of us which included the hire of a buggy

I have played this course a few times recently and feel it gets better each time I play it, there is a good selection and variety of holes which will challenge high and low handicappers alike.

The greens didn't play as fast as normal today but that may be down to the recent heavy rain which actually helps as you can have a go at the hole without it racing 10ft past, all the tee's were well maintained and the fairways and rough were in excellent condition, and all in all it was another good experience and very very good value for money, I would certainly recommend that you play this course as once you have you definitely will time and again.

Probably the best value for money golf coarse in Essex. We payed £16.00 on a weekend and in midweek that also comes with a breakfast. Many different holes with nice fairways and most greens in good condition .It was very windy when we played and this made it very difficult as the coarse is quite open. Its very difficult to put anything negative about the coarse and facilities.

A good course with a good selection of holes, plenty of laying up needed on some of the holes, a few doglegs and some reachable par 4s. Good value for money with a very nice clubhouse that gets very busy for sunday lunches with the locals. I would recommend this course but be aware when its windy because it is very open!! One down side is the greens can get a bit patchy but still playable.

At this time this coarse is in great condition ,we paid £16.00 on a Saturday afternoon and i have to say its worth every penny it knocks spots of the other coarses in the local area. Its a test for all handicappers but if you keep the ball in play a low score is at your mercy. When other coarses are charging over £20.00 a round Top Meadow deserve a pat on the back. The food and bar are also yet another plus to playing this coarse.

What a loverly course greens and fairways are in very good condition. Its a course where accuracy rather than length is important although the back nine is over 650 yards longer than the front with three par fives on it. You also get a fryed breakfast included with the green fee which at £16.00 was great vaule. Its a course i will definately be playing again soon.

A great course with some demanding holes. Greens were in tip top condition when we played. A nice thinking players course where accuracy prevails over distance. The pro shop and club house are 1st class. The fees are very reasonable as well. Thoroughly enjoyed playing there.
