I don't think some reviews do this course justice. It is always in amazing condition. Ok, it's not the toughest, most scenic course but it is great for beginners (and someone like me who took the game up very late and will always be classified a beginner!). It is very reasonably priced too.

Greens are good & true; and generally in good condition, even through Winter.
Wide fairways, generally light rough, and youngish, staked trees make for a forgiving round. However, watch out for three greens (4, 7, 14) guarded by lakes, plus two par 3's (5, 18) direct over lakes, the 18th being an island green.
There's no practice green, no driving range (you can go to Warley about 10 mins away), minimal accessories, basic catering. Well run with friendly staff. Generally good pace possible when playing here.

Considering the amount of rain we've had recently the course was dry and fairways and greens were excellent.

The course was in fantastic condition. Lush green and playing nicely. The greens were in fantastic condition and played consistently on every hole.
A credit to the groundsmen.
Definitely worth a visit for all golfers but great course for higher handicappers.

Good course to build your confidence after a poor round quite open and short but enjoyable for a knock with friends and it is pretty well kept and looked after.

Excellent value for money course. Short but very challenging. Played here all last winter, no temporary tees and always in good condition.Thoroughly recommended.

Played here on 31 March 2012. The course is always in good condition. We play this course at the start of the golf season as it's a gentle introduction back into real golf after winter months at the driving range. It is very short even from the whites but has some great holes.
The course is great, but standards are slipping massively in terms of golfing etiquette. There is no dress code. We had a four ball in front of us, one was wearing tracksuit bottoms and tracksuit top, one was wearing jeans and one was wearing combat trousers.
A lack of driving range, practice green and bar mean facilities are poor.
Summary - easy, short course, which is always in good condition. But management need to take control to ensure dress code and etiquette is safeguarded.

I played this course today for the first time. As a relatively new golfer I found it ideal. I did however encounter someone complaining to the management about us 'holding them up' and not letting them play through. I found this interesting because at all times we were on the tail of the two ball in front of us so couldn't play until they had holed up and cleared. We tried speeding up to then be complained about from the team in FRONT that we wasn't waiting long enough for them to clear before teeing off and were therefore endangering them. We were well and truly caught in the middle. It was a fine, warm and sunny day - why was everyone in such a hurry and, even if we HAD been 'holding up' the team behind, couldn't they have made allowance for the fact we were relatively new golfers and would therefore be not as proficient as them? Didn't THEY have to start somewhere? Or were they BORN experts in the game? That all aside, not too hard a course, friendly staff, and will be playing there again...but as mentioned above it COULD do with a bar providing a quick pint, and some better food options on the 19th.

Nice golf course but full of bad golfers with no respect, play bad, wrong dress code, dont ever follow the rules out on the course and always slow rounds at cranham. I can never play full 18 holes there because its always slow round there. Keep getting hitted by golf balls when we are on the correct fairways. Nice greens but I am not going to cranham again.

Very short and probably should be classified as a Par 63 rather than the 67 that is shown on the card.
On the whle not a difficult course but one I would highly recommend if you are looking to practice your approach game.
Good fun to play with beginners who will enjoy the fact that in most cases there are wide open spaces to catch the wayward shot.
The par 3 18th will offer a challenge with its island green which requires a 150 all carry shot that needs to stop.
Being so short when it is not busy a 3 ball can be round in 3 hours and when it is busy it may take 3.5 hours. A great advantage when ones wife is getting fed up with you vanishing every weekend.

The course is very forgiving for new players such as myself. Having said that, there are still challenges for the more accomplished player. The second cut and rough are not too long that you will lose your ball which always helps your confidence.
Course is well maintained and the clubhouse 'old lads' are very happy to help. Clubhouse would be great if it had a bar, but they do offer some food and coffee.
