Good course, poor service...

Arrived 15 minutes before our tee time and went to the clubhouse to pay, it was a Wednesday so expected to pay the midweek £27 fee however was charged the weekend fee of £35. When I questioned this the front of house staff barely even looked up while grunting ‘the week between Christmas and new year is classed as a weekend’ which is the first time I’ve heard this.. if they are going to charge you extra at least put it on the website so you know what you’re about to pay rather than it being a surprise when you turn up - no mention of this anywhere whatsoever. We then joined the queue of 6 other sets of golfers waiting to tee off on the first which took half an hour to play the first hole. I understand the business is struggling but overcharging quests and cramming as many people in as possible simply does not work. Shame as it is a very well kept course and could be good fun.

Played 21/10/14 possibly the worst greens I have had the misfortune to play on,some had not been cut for weeks and were truly awful, value for money? Not in my book,£20 for 18 holes of which 2 are only just memorable.not sure if they have greenstaff or they've just given up the ghost but don't consider this course as a fun days golf.afterwards we had one drink in the clubhouse to be met with the most sullen rude barmaid in the south of England, never again !!

What a shame ,this once thriving club seems to be on the slide, the greens were awful, diseased and over sanded (not swept) rock hard. The bunkers were simply a dusting of sand.
This is as bad as I've seen it ,a real pity

This could be a good course, however it seems the owners aren't prepared to spend a bit of time and money looking after it.

Tee boxes are hit and miss, with a number very patchy and lumpy which doesn't help when you catch these bumps on your backswing! Fairways are an absolute nightmare - almost bald and most of the time it's like playing off concrete. No idea why they're cut so short, as leaving them for a while may allow some grass to grow.

The greens are also poor - lumpy, bumpy and a nightmare to try and read. Some play slow, some fast, but the general state of them means your ball will be bobbling all the way towards the hole. On two holes I even had major scuffs and rabbit droppings between my ball and the hole.

Cheap at £10 a round but to be honest this still might be too expensive for a course in this condition. Should be a lot better and with a bit of TLC it could be a nice course.

Where can I start. First time playing a links course but think I may have chosen teh worse one to start with. Tee area's had too much sand on them and bare patches everywhere. The fairways were rock hard so the ball bounced for miles. I normally hit upto 200 yards but on the par 4 10th I drove the green 318 yards. Unable to take any sort of divot or make teh ball stop on the greens. Worse to come were the greens bare patches everywhere seemed like they hadn't received any water for months. Where they had moved the holes the repairs to the old hadn't knitted. For £10 twilight it was worth trying but I won't be returned. It has been reported that a new club house will be built to replace the cabins but no evidence of any work taken place. They certainly haven't spent any money on teh whole course and to me it seems its dying a slow and painful death. Real shame as it has so much potential

This course is in so poor condition, the greens are moss greens not grass. The bunkers are like concrete and the rough areas are in better condition than the fairsways. By far the worse course i have seen. The Club house is a porta cabin stuck in the middle of field. Dont waste your time or your money

greens had been punched recently and not enough dressing used so it was a bit of a lottery putting.
not worth paying full price at the moment.
