What the club says: A full eighteen hole true Championship Course of 6,835 yards (par 70 S.S.S. 74). There are however, none of the modern water hazards but ninety four bunkers and long carries over masses of heather. It is a great challenge and a very well kept course.

Absolute beauty

Played the Forester 2023 event with a much needed practice round the day before, what a course and brill layout. greens excellent and slick. score on the front 9 and hold on round the back 9. you will need your A game with the driver or a spotter :-) £55 with lunch and 54 holes (inc practice round) best value for money EVER. Staff especially Maria outstanding along with super friendly chef/bar staff. the event was really well organised and even with bad weather a joy to attend

Superb, fast greens. Firm fairways framed with gorse, heather & trees. Challenging par threes & tough stretch of par fours on the back nine will really test your game on this classic heathland layout.

Great course but serious challenge!!!

Sherwood Forest is a excellent golf course and will give any golfer a serious challenge. Despite playing in November, the fairways were bone dry and in very good condition, minimal scaring etc, tee boxes were excellent. The greens had been tinned so difficult to judge, but all the signs where there that they would be superb in the summer. The facilities are good and the club house is very picturesque and echos tradition. The course it's self is extremely challenging, and almost every hole has at least roughly around 150 yards carry in heathland. So accuracy off the tee is essential! To fully enjoy this course in all its glory, I would recommend a handicap of at least 18 to enjoy this course to its full potential All in all this is a great course and one for any golfer to tick off his list.

Picturesque course in Notts

Sherwood Forest is a great course, in sublime condition. A tough course to score well on as its very easy to roll into the long grass and heather, but a good challenge. Practice facilities are improving - and the soon-to-be opened range looks great.

First time playing the course at the midst of the wettest autumn on record. The course was immaculate and bone dry. Roll on the fairways and spongy greens. Playing off fairways mats but if that protects these amazing fairways, I’m all for that.\\Must play.

So enjoyable

Golfshake Team ReviewFrom start to finish I loved it. From deer roaming over the course to seeing the autumn trees in all colours the views were great. The course was really nice and interesting with no 2 holes alike. Loved playing the 3rd, 4th and 18th with the clubhouse as the backdrop which looks magnificent. Members and staff were very friendly. Definitely worth a visit f in the north east midlands. Did Sherwood Forrest after Notts the day before with Golfbreaks for ?139 so pretty good value I think for 2 top notch courses.

Played here on Monday 31st July. Remains as one of the best courses I've ever played. Course was in superb condition. Greens were lightning quick considering the recent rain. The stretch of long Par 4's on the back 9 are the toughest I've ever played. Can't wait to play here again!

I've played here before and unfortunately since then the course has lost a lot of trees. The layout is very strong, particularly the tough back nine. The greens are big, so you need to know where the flag is to chose the correct club. The fairways were in good condition, the semi rough look simple but was tough to play from. The greens were fairly fast and true. The 18th is a weak hole and looks poor with all the work going on to the right of the hole.

Typical Notts set up, attractive slightly quirky clubhouse, range being rebuilt bit of an eyesore at the minute, practise green and nets though.
Fairly easy walk, lots of very good holes. Has lost a lot of trees so not quite what I was expecting but can't really fault the condition. Last hole was a little bit of a non event, but some good strong par 4's in particular.
Since it's ranked similar to hollinwell on here I will make the comparison, I think it's half a notch behind but still a top, top course.
