Disappointing experience
Extremely disappointed with our recent trip to play Pennard. We paid the normal green fee and also hired 2 buggies for a 4pm tee time. We reached the 8th tee in after around 1hr 40 mins, and had been caught up by the first of 5 groups playing alternate shot matches. We tried to let them through and keep moving forward, but as we were waiting in the 8th fairway for the group we had let through to clear the green, the group behind were hitting their tee shots straight at us. We let the next group through on the 9th tee and the samething happened again, the next group hit tee shots straight at us and almost hit us while we were in view, waiting for the 9th green to clear. A pennard staff member came out and informed us we would need to let the matches play through, so for our safety we decided to wait on the 10th tee for the final 3 groups to play through. We couldn't tee off on the 10th until 7:40, 1 hour before sunset. We only managed to finish 13 holes before the light ran out. We felt incredibly hard done by having not been informed that there was a match teeing off straight after us, and paying full price for a four ball. I called the office and was informed that the first match shouldn't have started until 5pm, 1 hour after we started. They absolutely must have started earlier than that. As we were staying in Swansea for a few days I asked if there was any way we could return and either play again, or even play just the back 9. The man I spoke with (Reece) said that he would speak to the team captain and get back in touch with me, and that he couldn't believe that the matches caught us up so early. Unfortunately, I never heard back from the club over the following 3 days we were still in Swansea. Considering our group paid a total of £350 for golf and buggies, plus extra for pro shop purchases, we were left very frustrated after looking forward to this round of golf for a long time. The lack of communication from the club was unacceptable considering their reputation and I will not be recommending Pennard to anyone that I speak to as they seem to have been happy to take our money and not allow us to play the full course.Alex

Nice course terrible condition
My mate played this course 6 years ago and was raving about playing it again. Green were in good condition but the rest of the course had no grass on the fairways. It sits overlooking the sea and is wind blown badly. Shame really could be a great course. And no buggies available on hottest day of the year due to course conditions.(Round played: Jul 2019 - Score: 92 Handicap: 12.8)

To top the experience off - for some reason they expected you to carry around a big bag of grass mixture/manure to repair your divots with. That was a bit of a laugh. I'm not sure how they expected people to create any divots in the first place with the rock hard nature of the fairways, but there you go. I think though it is a bit much to ask people who have spent £45 on a round to do this, surely they can employ an extra greenkeeper or two to carry out this job? What exactly are they spending all this money, which they must be raking in, on exactly?

Overplayed
Played on a wet and windy June day. Reception at clubhouse excellent, very welcoming. Practice facilities very good. Course was very scrubby, most fairways very bare and pitted; hard to know if you were on. Either overgrazed by the cows or grass was dead. Greens and surrounds were superb.Reviewer Rating

Pennard
Beautiful looking course. Fairways had lots of slopes and it was tricky keeping the ball from running off. Too many blind drives but the greens were fast and true.(Round played: Apr 2018 - Score: 103 Handicap: 20.4)

Wonderful setting on The Gower
This was our 3rd course on a golf weekend in South Wales and was well worth the visit. Fantastic views across the Bristol Channel and Three Cliffs Bay form the backdrop to this very challenging links style course.Reviewer Rating
