What happened?

We've been going to Paultons once a year for about 15 years? Maybe longer?

Two years ago we decided to give it a rest after the people who bought Bramshaw bought it. They were charging exorbitant fees to use the driving range. It had always felt a bit like a municipal. But it was ususally good value. Not that well kept. But fair enough for an afternoon now and then.

We played yesterday. Admittedly it had been wet recently. But the greens were awful. Muddy. Bumpy. Not much grass. Looked like February but it wasn't.

The fairways weren't much better.

We saw two greenkeepers on our way round. So there are people working on it but perhaps there simply aren't enough of them.

We will give Paultons a miss for another two or three years.

Course in ok condition. Some picturesque holes. Bunkers in terrible condition. ?35 for a round is too expensive for what is on offer here. Too many lost balls after good shots in

We play Paultons once a year and have done for about 15 years. We skipped last year. There is a new owner and changes have been made.

There are drainage ditches in front of several greens. We didn't lnow anything about them. I asked the Pro or Manager in the shop before we went - but he knew nothing about any changes to the course.

Some of the Bunkers were GUR but some were just mud pits. There were muddy areas just off several greens. Its just a lack of care.

The greens themselves were - it has to be said - good. Probably too easy. I had 11 single putts. Thats not me - thats the greens.

But what probably coloured the day for most of us was the range. £2? £4 perhaps? Just to warm up? No. Miniumum price £7.50. You can have 30 minutes with unlimited balls. I don't want unlimited balls. I want to warm up not kill myself.....

I think we will rest Paultons for a few years.

average course that could be so much better

Greens excellent condition ran true, fairways not too bad, however, heavily punished if ball ran out of fairway!! no way of finding ball in the long grass! thus slowing down pace of the game, what shouldve take 4.5 hrs turn out to be 5.25 hrs due to looking for balls in tall grass in end not enjoyable for amateurs or beginners!! dont get me wrong I have played this course on numerous occasions but will not be rushing to play again soon.

Not worth visiting

Noisy, crowded. Course shared with a 9 hole and football golf.
Far too easy to lose a ball just off the fairway.
Second time I have played here - I shall not return.

Dont waste your hard earnt money

Very poor value for money, the place plays like a bog in the winter months, fairways and first cut way too long. Tee boxes were laughable the 6th especially was an absolute disgrace. Ive seen better grass down my local council park. A few temporary tee mats thats lets be honest none of us like at this time of year but it cant be helped, but these were again a joke. Poke a inch tee in just to get a couple of mm above level surface. Were nearly in 2018 for gods sake, surely i wouldnt be too expensive to invest in that fake grass that ive seen elsewhere that you can just poke your tee in anywhere. Appears to be run on a shoe string.

The course Is always in a reasonable condition all year round but unfortunately there isnt always food available the bar shuts early in the evenings and members have no preferential treatment if it wasn't a local course I would not play it.
