This 18 hole course was established in 1894 and is set in 120 acres of hilly scenic parkland. Its demanding layout and rich heritage draws golfers from all over Europe, featuring verdant, tree lined fairways and well kept greens. From the 244 yard opening par 3, where the drive is over a valley to a small green cut into a hill, to the highly acclaimed par 5 14th hole, golfers are confronted with numerous and memorable challenges. 5,540 yards Par 69.

Great layout. Very long par 3s and even though the par 4s are short they are very challenging. Greens in good shape.

Played 7.20 tee off on a Saturday cost £8. The course is very tight in places. Council run course so is a bit rough around the edges. Would defo go back again!

Great course - few drving holes for me - nice greens - undulating fairways mean shot shaping important here for low scores. was a member here for years - cleaned up consideribly in absence of a few more years. Worth a visit!

Good course with a few surprises.

This is a really challenging course, but very rewarding if you stick close to the fairways. The first par 3 is quite something, over 230 yards and set on a hill after a steep dip. Once you have gone through 15 holes, you are given long open fairways for the last 3 home which is a nice variation before the clubhouse. Members only bar which can be quite frustrating if you are a visitor, but a friendly word with bar staff will allow you to have a drink on the terrace.

My local course, in sunny Bournemouth.
The lack of driving range is a disadvantage but hey-ho.
This makes the 1st a test but from there its nice wide fairways, a lot maintenance has been carried out over the last year or two and has opened up few of the more ragged holes.
The 14th is exactly the 5th at Purbeck but still a local beauty.
Its the best of the local cheaper courses.

I can not remember too much about this course but the 1st hole is the longest par3 in the country (apparently). Quite a good challenge for high handicappers.
