Played 25th Sept 14, The coarse was very poor for the time of the year. The greens didn`t look like they had been mown for quite a while. The restructuring of the coarse has made the whole place look scruffy. Will not be playing there again until the place is finished.

This course is currently in dreadful condition and is well avoided. The course is generally very tatty and unkempt and has some of the worst bunkers I have ever encountered.
The green have previously been hollow tined but the holes haven't been fill in which leaves the greens very bumpy and very difficult to have any confidence on the greens. As other contributors have stated there are some significant works being undertaken at present.
It's a shame really because the shop and bar staff are very friendly. I will not be visiting this course again as there are far far better courses around the area.

Considering this is a private golf club, very poor course condition. Have played better municipal courses for equal price or less.
Some greens are in really poor condition.
Lots of groundworks being done on the back 9, its like playing through a building site.
Flat, featureless, bunkers were awful.
Stay clear.

A lot of work on going, greens need watering. no sprinklers. fairways and rough in very poor condition. Not a green keeper in sight. Avoid till all civil work completed.

The course is completely featureless, they are trying to create some interest by landscaping mounds of earth at the moment around a few holes but even when complete im afraid it wont be enough to entice me back. Shame because the staff are nice and friendly.

it took us 3 hours to play 9 holes so refused to play the back 9. Absolute joke. The fairways were abysmal, some greens were winter greens (more like a hole in the middle of the fairway), some tees not in use, so many leaves on the ground that it made finding balls impossible. Bad day all around. Won't be back

The course was in poor condition today, but the most disappointing thing about the course was the time it took to go around. We were waiting 40 minutes on the 1st tee with 2 societies out before us. When I asked some of the folders before us, one group has the same tee time as myself. I realise that golf clubs any struggling at the moment and try to maximise the number of booking they take but this was ridiculous. Folders before us and after us were walking out the course after the ninth. Them like us will probably never go the this club again

Got potential

I know 2 members so get invited most weeks. This course has the ability to become a real gem but it's extremely tatty round the edges. Can be very wet & muddy the Cart paths are dreadful & not suitable for wheeling a normal trolley down them shame really as it would cut footfall on fairways when wet. Layout I find excellent good drive gives you mid iron into number of holes par 5,s reachable in 2 for big hitters par 3,s two quite challenging one with water in front can be card wrecker. With a lot more investment in greens, sprinkler system & serious drainage work then it would become a real gem

Not the best.....

Revisited after not playing for circa 20 years. The course has matured but overall was disappointed. Not in good condition and quite uninspiring.

Have played course many times and have watched as from its early days of farmers fields grow and mature . Recently over the past few years they seemed to be spending money on the course creating elevated tees and more of a 3D feel to the course , however was saddened to play this course this week as the greens are in a shocking state . You can tell they have not been fed or holintined ( pardon the spelling) they are put to shame by most pitch and putts . Will not be going again this year although I believe may have new management soon so may try again next year . Very disappointing

First time back for 15 years!

Played here today for the first time in fifteen years. It is quite different visually with the trees maturing and a lot of mounds improving the aesthetics of the place. The staff were great from the friendly chap taking phone bookings to the lovely lady that takes the green fees.

The course itself and aspects of play I was less impressed with. Other than the second the holes aren't especially memorable. The group in front was a little slow being a four ball of old timers but nothing unreasonable. The group behind were much worse in that they were rushing up behind constantly, making sure we knew they were waiting by standing to the side of the tee box in your eyeline even though no one was behind them. Made for a less enjoyable experience.

See you in 15 years Mersey Valley!
