Marriott Worsley Park Golf Club
Designed by European Golf Design in association with Michael King, the golf course at Worsley Park provides an exciting challenge to golfers of all abilities. The golf course has been laid out utilising the natural contours of the terrain and the indigenous water features, the greens and tees are all laid to USGA specifications, making it a truly enjoyable challenge. At 6,611 yards (par 71) from the back tees, this is a course that requires brains instead of brute strength to achieve a successful score. In July 2004 Worsley Park hosted the European Challenge tour (the 4th largest golf event in England 2004) for the JJB Sports North West Challenge which along with high profile events such as the Professional Footballer's Association golf classic, the Ryan Giggs Testimonial Golf Day and also the inaugural Sir Alex Ferguson golf Classic, illustrates the course's growing reputation as one of the best golfing venues in the North of England. 18 holes. Worsley Marriott is my local course and one I play often. Lovely setting and for a reasonably new course very very good. Problems at present are a pipeline running down the side of the course and although it doesn't effect the course too much. They have lost the nice PAR 3 for a while and replaced with a poor hole but apart from that its ok. Fairways are very sandy this has been done to assist the drainage of the course. Apart from all its a great course and greens are immaculate.

Course was in very good condition at the start of the year and is open all year round, playing off tees and greens. Very friendly staff in the pro shop and the cabin between the 10th

Nice course with nice facilities. Nice to see a starter keeping the starts moving, and better still, sending late comers off to start on the 3rd.
Course is very wet, but in great condition. Fairways are nice and short still, and no lying leaves which tends to be a problem at this time of year.
Greens wet, but again in good condition, and still playing pretty quickly.
Nice course, would definitely return.

Played on a dry day in August but as many others mention, the fairways had been sanded that week making the whole course like a bunker!
Even where there wasn't an excess of sand, you felt that the grass basically wasn't connected to the ground below it meaning that only the most crisply struck shot stood any chance of being effective.
The greens weren't in great condition on some of the later holes but overall were good and easily the fastest I have ever played on.
The layout is generally uninspiring with no memorable holes and too many short par 3s.
We paid £15 each which might seem cheap but was expensive for a course I basically felt was in unplayable condition. Basic lack of facilities - the Pro Shop / Bar / Toilets are in the hotel meaning that you need to take your spikes off to use all three which is inconvenient not to mention unhygienic.
Members came across as unfriendly bordering on arrogant (super slow 4 ball barged past us on the 1st tee despite being booked on 15 mins after us).
Least enjoyable round I have ever played, avoid at all costs.The Course

nice layout with some very good holes,greens were excellent the fairways had been sanded so heavy shots were like long bunker shots,but well worth a round.my only complaint was adding a shot saver book to the already expensive(£25) buggy whether you wanted one or not was a bit of a cheek.

a sand based coarse i found the greens very hard to hold the ball,a lot of the bnkers are very hard with very little soft sand and lots of stones.spoilt a little bit at the moment with a new drainage pipe being fitted.

Played here on a good Sunday deal through TeeOffTimes. The weather had been dry for a while and the course played well, the greens especially were a lot better than when we played in March. The fairways have all been heavily sanded to aid drainage, it does hamper the roll on the ball though you still get preferred lies because of this. The bunkers are a pleasure to play from and the teeing areas and practice facilities are good.
