The greens really arent good.
The course is very average, and at £28 for a round it really isnt great value for money.
It's saving grace it's proximity to the town of chelmsford which means it can get away with this but it really should invest in some effort in greenkeepers over this winter.

Just got back from playing here,

I didnt think it was as bad as others have said here.

The fairways and greens looked like they have been cut regularly, although the greens were a bit slow with a few brown patches on them.

Overall there were some tricky holes and a few of them have water in play.

Maybe £24 is a tad to steep

We have not played here for a couple of years as the greens were very poor ,very slow and of need of a good cut .Not much has changed the greens still need cutting but the rough is a good test for any golfer .We play every week and play different coarses every week and this must be the most overpriced coarse that we have played. At a time when most coarses reduce there prices around the 1oc mark Hylands seem to think it right to keep there prices the same all day what a rip off!!!!!!!!.
This coarse is a sub standard pay and play and there are many better coarses in the area that charge a lot less than £24.00.

First time we have played the course in three years and we thought £24 was a bit steep. The greens especially the first were always like carpets when we last played there...Shag pile carpet. When we played today they had improved but were still incredibly slow as they are still not cut short enough.Bunkers could definetely do with some more sand but i could say that about most of the courses i play. The bunkers though are well placed and the rough which doesnt look a problem is a good test as your club inveriably has to go through clumpy grass which cost us shots a plenty.Considering the weather the course was very quiet which can only mean 1.Most golfers go elsewhere 2.Their wives wear the trousers and they cant play on a holiday weekend. Its probably a combination of the two but its more one than two i would say.

Heard a lot of mixed reviews on this course but I was suitably impressed. The course was well managed & the greens were in good condition. Good value for money & have a good driving range to warm up beforehand. Clubhouse is being developed, so expect further improvements over the coming years!! Will definitely comeback here to play again..

Hylands Golf course, this course has matured over the years. A lot of work has been put in to improve the bunkers, still some work needed though. Could do with Resturant facilities.

never had a round when the course was not in good shape, although the feathers can be distracting when searching for the ball.lack of a decent club house is its only draw back, with other facilities offering good value for money
