Played here for years but unfortunately due to the Covid crisis the course was allowed to deteriorate through lack of any maintenance. The tees and fairways are starting to come back but the greens are a disgrace! It's not unusual now to find bare patches, moss and lack of mowing meaning it's impossible to putt. Still charging the full rate! Arrowe Park, also a local municipal Is in 100% better condition and much better playing there.

Heard a lot of moans about the course during the summer but didn't get a chance to play it. Thought it played quite well today on a lovely late September day. Hoylake is not everyones cup of tea but had a decent afternoon there.

Seen the course in better condition.
Fairways unmown, semi allowed to grow too thick, greens lumpy. some parts of the course had been reseeded following the Open practice area but it hasn't taken. Apparently the people who had been paid to get it back to proper condition hadn't done their job and a broken tractor has added to the woes. It'll get better!!!

Fairways were a bit bare and too much G.U.R. Hoylake is always a tet as some of the par fours are long. Greens were ok seeing as it's a municipal.

Despite excellent reviews, i was a bit disapointed with this course. poor greens and poor tee off locations, even though it is winter. it has been a mild one, so i was expecting the course to be in roughly the same condition as other municipal golf courses. but i cant cant complain as the green fees are a bargin, and the pie man at the end of the 9th hole was a welcome sight.

Good course, greens have been better

Hoylake is a nice course, there is some nice challenging par threes and some long par 4s. always a good round there. went back today for my first round in a while and everything was what i expected but the greens. unusually bad shape for the course. I'm guessing maybe covid didnt help. look forward to seeing what it's like in the summer
