Tough track
I'm a member here. It's a very tight tough course. A real test for players of all abilities. A lot of work going on at the moment to improve further an already good course. Even course knowledge can't help you some days. Still needs a few more trees out but I'm told that's happening soon. If you're thinking of trying it for the first time I recommend going with a member who can give you tips on where to aimReviewer Rating

Hidden Beauty
Having heard from numerous sources of a "beautiful little course" just South of Selby I decided to give Drax a go. Not expecting too much initial, I was soon surprised to find what I would call a hidden beauty which needs the word spreading about. The greens were fantastic and it was clear to see the greens staff taking great pride in their work as the tee boxes and fairways were also immaculate. There are a few querky holes with ponds and hazards to catch you out if you get complacent.
Definitely a recommend and I am telling everyone I know about it!

Lovely course spoilt by 2 members
My son and I visited Drax for the first time, we had spoken to a couple of staff who were extremely friendly and provided some good advice. Unfortunately we were approached by two club members on the 12th, one of them said he was the president although I think he meant Captain, they bluntly told us we were incorrectly dressed and that there was a very strict dress code. We explained that we hadn't been informed of this by any member of staff but what really upset us was the way these 2 club members spoke to us. If this golf club wants to attract more members especially the younger generation then I suggest the captain and the members of the club take a look at how the staff in the social club and the green keepers treat the paying public. The staff were welcoming and friendly and it's only because of the staff that we will return to play again.Reviewer Rating

TEX WILLIAMSON.
I have been playing this course for several years now, however each time I have played it "depending on the weather conditions " it plays so different. The new green keeper MARK SNEEP as really taken the course to new levels, and I can not wait for the summer period with the work he has done on the greens to take fruition. So congratulations to everyone of the many people who have been working on the course since the begining of the year, I for one thank you.Reviewer Rating

Still testing for the lower handicappers due to tight fairways and fast greens

Club insists on fairway mats or tees in winter, which is over-protective and doesn't allow visitors to play realistic golf. Similarly, the club resorts too readily to temporary greens and tees and the course is too often closed after rain. Leaves are a horrendous problem in autumn despite the seniors section apparently engaged on frequent clearance.
I wouldn't join this club simply because winter golf is so limited, it'd be impossible to get value; that's a shame, as it's a very attractive course when fully open and playable. I've filed it under 'summer only' for future trips.

Use your head around the course and anywhere near par is a good score.
