course very wet with water resting and running in lots of places greens have lots of bald patches. will not play for a few weeks

the course was very wet and in all the years that I have played at downshire I have never seen the course in such a bad condition water all over the place greens are very patchy with numorous bare patches got the feeling had change of green keeping staff and they not very interested.

Used to play this course a lot in the 90's. It was a top course then but it has declined significantly in recent years. Greens are covered in old pitch marks and generally a bit scruffy as are most of teeing areas. Around the greens is also in need of more green keeper attention. Variety of holes is still in tact and appealing but course is overplayed and tired. For 28£ you can visit a variety of private clubs instead.

Greens were in poor condition tee box's were like speed humps 28 pound a round I wasn't happy

Tees and greens were poor. Never seen the course like this considering it is suppose to be one of the best public course in the country...

Played on 4 September 2010 with my golf society - expensive to play, greens were shocking and the tees even worse. Not a good course and not recommended

High expectations, however greens very inconsistant, no two had the same pace and very marked and bumpy, felt a little let down for such a well written about course. Prices are not as shown here either, £20.00 on a week day and £25.00 for a week end.

Waterlogged
A fantastic golf course, let down by waterlogged pathways and fairways . Greens are far too soft and insignificant Hole cut outs a lot out of shape,.. And some bunkers with zero sand it’s a shame because it used to be awesome. Hopefully they spend some money on it.Reviewer Rating

So joined this club via PlayMoreGolf golf after having been a member at wokefield before.
I personally like this course which is quite challenging , at the present time the greens need work on them and there are still two holes needing to be played off the mats which shouldn't really be the case by now, overall average in condition.

tough conditions
A bit muddy after the recent rain and so not a lot of carry.Greens quick but a bit bumpy in places.
Great value for Seniors, and not bad for me either.
