Sand Martins Golf Club
Our challenging 6,212, yard par 70 course is maintained to the very highest standards, with tees and greens built to USGA specifications. Opened in 1993, the course has been cleverly designed with two distinct and contrasting nine holes; an outward nine, set in parkland with lakes, water hazards and dog-legs and a stunning 'links style' inward nine with sand banks, broom and a host of challenges. Sand Martins is the perfect risk and reward golf course, offering a challenge to golfers of all levels.
The back nine is truly unique among inland golf courses, with high rivetted bunkers and hazards lurking on every hole offering a good test of golf; where a par on the 13th will feel like a birdie, and where Deception, the 15th with a ravine across the fairway, really does live up to its name! Not a long course, but very challenging. Tight fairways, well placed bunkers and several water hazards mean that you need to be straight more than long. Greens are in good condition. Front 9 and back 9 are quite different, good variety in the challenges they provide.
Very friendly club, good food.
Practice facilities are good, although the range is quite exposed. The Course

I played this course for the first time and was very impressed. Good value for money, particularly with a special offer we used. Sand Martins was in good condition and I would single out the back nine holes and the quality of the greens as the highlight. Really enjoyed the friendly welcome as a visitor and the club has all the facilities including a very good halfway house which was open for business at 4pm on a weekday (unlike many other courses I have played). Overall a very good course and for a mid-handicap player a good test.

A course of two different halves. The front 9 are your traditional parkland style, with trees and winding fairways, but after the half-way house things change a lot - into an inland links with big undulations and huge sandstone outcroppings into the fairways, land behind or on one of those and it's an extra shot on the card to get out.
Sand Martins challenges you to decide on the percentage shot - on the front 9 you can open up those shoulder s and give it a whack, not so the back 9.
The fairways are really well maintained and the greens were like silk - a really good experience of golf.
The clubhouse is really comfortable and staff friendly. The food there is excellent too.The Course

Sandmartins is not what I would consider a picture postcard course as it is still maturing and a relatively young course. That said if you are looking for a course that is in pristine condition then look no futher. From tee to green it is hard to find faults. The greens in particular are top quality and lightning fast. As good as some championship greens I have played on.

An excellent course, a bit of an unknown..Good VFM anyway but excellent if you have 2-4-1 vouchers. 2 very different 9's each posing different threats. Good half-way hut and all staff very friendly. A match for some of the more expensive courses in the area.

2 distinct halves. The front parkland and the back links type.
A sting in the tail with the 16th and 18th both over 500 yards.

I was a member here a few years ago and really enjoyed my time whilest i was. The course has a parkland/Woodland front nine with a Links feel to the back nine. A lovely clubhouse and changing rooms, nice restaurant and bar aswell.
Its a well managed property and with good staff on hand if need be aswell, Andrew Hall was the owner when i was there and is a great teacher if you wanted a few lessons, but all in all a Nice golf course and well worth playing! The Course

Very interesting a well laid out course. Front nine and back nine have completely different character (inland and links feel to them). Quite a lot of water involved and great quality fairways and green. Well worth a visit.
