Played this on an early Sunday morning in the very light drizzle and mist. The front 9 are fairly open and the greens are relatively straight and flat but in damn good condition. From what we could see, there are some pretty fantastics views. Now the back 9, a totally different story. Very up and down so if you dont wish to be worn out....get a buggy if only for these holes. The back 9 is a lot lot tighter and the greens are shaped and sloping. but what greens, fantastic to play on as i personally prefer this to flater type greens. Again, in very good condition. The drizzle and mist had cleared by now and again some brilliant views over to Wales. We played very early before the pro shop opened and I previously asked if there was any way we could get a buggy. They left a named buggy out for us....now thats service. this has to be one of the most friendliest clubs I have ever visited and as I am looking around here for a club to join this is presently way out on top of the list.Friendly, helpful, value for money....all worthwhile in my book. Will I be going back...pity i have to work during the week...roll on the weekend.

Just finished my first round here. Wow. The greens were perfect and I found the course in fabulous condition. There are some lovely views on the back nine and the course has a lot of variation. Advise picking up a guide book from the pro shop as a few of the blind drives required me to march down the fairway first to see what I was dealing with. I'll definitely be back!

To steal(and slightly adapt) a much used phrase from another sport I love, this really is a course of 2 halves. The front nine is reasonably open and allows you to get the driver out a number of times but the back nine is a much tighter affair making for a different kind of challenge - the club captain recommended to me that I just use my 7 iron throughout the back nine - a piece of advice that I, and so many before me I am sure, stupidly ignored. Still, lesson learned for next time and there will be a next time as I found this a very interesting and enjoyable course to play. Add to that the friendly nature of staff and members alike and I feel sure Cotswold Edge is going to be a regular stop on my tour of local(ish) courses.

I love this course

I'm not going to say I have played every golf course in the area but I have played most for under £30.

This course has an awesome mix of holes. The front 9 is fairly open and you're unlikely to lose a ball if you keep the ball on the planet, but you will be punished if you go into the trees with a likely chip out. The front 9 is where you can push your driver and attack this course, there are birdie opportunities here, but if played poorly it will equally harm your score card.

The back 9 is where you need to bring extra balls, but equally the smart golfer can make up ground here. The driver shouldn't come out for many golfers here except maybe the 10th and 18th. I've had many cards wrecked here, it is an exciting 9 holes and you have to be careful on every hole, including the 18th where you can let the driver rip you see many people searching for their ball in the tall trees.

The contrition of the course when I played was superb and the pace of play was fair for a weekend morning with a challenging back 9. A worm welcome at the bar afterwards with a ice cold drink on a hot day was much appreciated.

You're not going to beat this for £25 green fee on a weekend morning,

I love this course

This course is such a breath of fresh air for me. See my previous reviews for a more in-depth. The front 9 is fairly open with interesting undulations on the 3rd and 6th holes. The views are lovely looking over South Gloucestershire.

The 10th and 11th holes sink you into what will be an interesting pleasure to play or the valley of doom.. If you spray the ball like a feral tom cat sprays it's urine you're going to be in a world of hurt. But you don't need to be long here. It is pat pat, technical golf, You might use a driver 3 or 4 times on this part of the course, long irons or hybrids will be your friends off the tee here or you'll be taking more tee shots than is required. OoB is never far away and normally plays on your right.

Well worth a visit

My first visit to Cotswold Edge, what a fantastic course. Challenging and a good walk up and down the hill but well worth it. Amazing views even on a grey day. Thoroughly recommend and will definitely visit again

We play this course regularly throughout the dry season and today it was in the best condition we have ever seen it. Fairways cut, greens very fast and the look and feel of the course was really good. Will always recommend it to anybody. Can be quite tricky in places too.

Delight to play

See my previous reviews for more detail.

The course was in fantastic condition today.

The course could do with more ball cleaners and bins and could probably do with a bell on the 3rd hole which is a par 5 with a "blind tee shot" due to the drop off.

You never play the same hole twice on this course, as every hole is unique. I'm not saying I've played every course between Gloucester and Bristol because I haven't and I only play on course I can get on under £20, but out of the 10 or so I play this is my favourite. The second 9 is brutal if you're wayward with your tee shots but the first half is real grip it and rip it. They have long holes, short holes, tight fairways and wide fairways, straight holes, left and right doglegs, up hill, down hill. The course is also blessed with beautiful scenery looking from the edge of the Cotswold over the Severn valley and the valley with Wooten Under Edge in it. If I was to become a member of a golf course I would be a member of this one.
