The course has been having trouble with the weather this winter and has the 18th closed (so they have replaced it with a 106 yard par 3). The club reduced our fee by £15. The pro came to the first tee to chat to us and advise us how to play the course, he drove round in a buggy to check how we were getting on (how many pros take the time to do this with visitors?) The course is a very good layout, although the stroke 1 7th is a bit silly with a blind tee shot and blind second shot. The back nine is the better half as everything is laid out in front of you. The greens were fast and you had to keep the ball under the hole, as some putts could roll off the green. Afterwards we were well treated in the clubhouse by both staff and members.

Myself and 3 of my golfing friends have been travelling round the past few years playing the countries top 100 courses and last week we played Broadstone. I had heard a lot of very good things about Broadstone and to say we were not disappointed would be an understatement. From the second we arrived in the pro shop to the time we left we could not have been looked after better. As for the course we all agreed it was possibly the best layout of all the heathland courses we had played with some exhilarating holes and 4 of the best par 3\'s you can play. The greens were the best we have played all year and though Parkstone and Ferndown are both good courses in there own right they pale in significance to Broadstone. I think Broadstone is well up there with the great heathland courses such as Walton Heath and is definitely a Top 50 course in all of our opinion. Can\'t wait to play it again soon.

Challenging layout set amongst heather and pine. A very enjoyable course to play, with some holes that require some thought for the second shots. Greens were excellent, fast and true. However, a negative was the condition of the fairways on a number of holes, very bare in places with dead patches of grass. Welcome in the clubhouse was perfect.

It is not often that you walk off a golf course and say that you cannot remember a single weak hole (although the 18th is not as strong as some) From start to finish each hole was a delight to play and having played about 60 of the top 100 courses, Broadstone has to be much stronger than 90 in that list? Top 40 at least is where both myself and playing partner would have put it. Better than Parkstone, better than Hankley Common, much better than Moortown, Little Aston, Southport & Ainsdale and many more on the list! I am happy playing at Burnham & Berrow but would be just as happy to be playing at Broadstone!

Broadstone golf club is set in a beautiful location,on the day i played with my friend David Wilkes,it was 30 degrees, and absolutely beautiful. We had a buggy( can be a bit temperamental with the alarm),which had all sorts of amazing touch screen options, including a GPS map, with the options to set distance, measure distance to and from any point of the hole, truly remarkable..
The course itself was in lovely condition with no restriction s or damage to the fairways. The holes are a great and challenging combination, with many levels, this results in some beautiful views -down to the tee on the 3rd,and other blind drives.....it is very well maintained, and there were no problems with traffic through the course....
I would say, this is a challenging course, holes that look easy can prove to be tougher than first expected... we always make a little video as we walk round at every course we play........ i dont know if it is allowed but feel free to have a little watch http://youtu.be/uMrlWC1Ux3A
Verdict -9 out of 10......

We have been travelling the country, playing various courses over many years, and we came to Broadstone with great expectations. We arrived on a day when the forecast wasn't great and received a walm welcome. We had all looked at the photos of the course on the website, and it lived up to our hopes. Every hole presented a new challenge and an excellent test of golfing skills. I don't think I have ever been on a course, where I have said so many times to my playing partners, when leaving one hole to go to the next ' wow, look at this hole' It seemed like almost every one. We had a thoroughly wonderful time and congratulate everyone from the greenkeeping staff to the people behind the bar for making our golfing weekend extra special.

What a golf course!! I have played many of the great Harry Colt courses and I have to say Broadstone is up there with the best of them. The layout is superb giving you that feeling of being on your own hole all of the way round. The condition was superb with some of the trickiest greens I have played especially the beautiful short par 3 6th and 16th. Every hole on the course is strong with the standout hole on the course being the 13th which is rightly rated as one of the best par 4's in the country. Though visitors times are limited the welcome from the pro shop and clubhouse staff was first class. It is well worth it's place in the top 100 and in my opinion is comfortably a top 50 venue. STUNNING.

Was invited to play Broadstone this week and had heard a lot of good reports about it. I was not dissapointed!! The course was in outstanding condition and if there is a better heathland layout in the country i'm yet to see it. The greens are frighteningly quick but a great challenge. By far the best of a strong group of golf courses in the area. The welcome from the professional shop was first class and we could not have been made more welcome from staff and members alike. A MUST PLAY!!

Disappointing condition
Played on fairly nice conditions in early April but to my surprise was pretty disappointed with the condition given this hasn’t been the wettest of winters.
Course has a great layout, lots of challenge and some great settings.
However, the greens, many fairways and the fringes around the greens were all patchy whilst the tees were atrocious. I think for a top 100 course charging over £100 for visitors I’m expecting better to be honest.
Members and clubhouse service all very friendly just wish the course had been in better nick.

Undulating heathland challenge
There are some very challenging holes especially in the wind we played in. I'm looking forward to returning and playing again in the summer when the conditions have improved. Some fairways were still recovering from the summer drought and the greens were surprisingly slow. One hole was closed due to course improvements but hole 9b was in play. The team in the pro shop were very friendly and extremely helpful. Broadstone has a very well stocked pro shop. The clubhouse was having renovations but that didn't disturb us too much. Overall, a great golf club but the playing surfaces need improvement.

Stunningly scenic heathland course
Broadstone always ranks high in many top 100 course listings and it definitely deserves its place. It is a stunningly scenic heathland course, spread out across a very expansive heathland area. No two holes are the same and work is underway to restore all the bunkering to the original Harry Colt designs. It requires some straight hitting as the rough/ heathland areas are hard to play from. Approaches to the greens are often very exacting so you need to be on your game to score here. It is also a very hilly course so the walk is strenuous. The only disappointing aspect of the course were the greens, which are undergoing a 3-4 year transitional process from meadow grass to poanna grass. This means the greens are inconsistent in speed and not particularly smooth. If you can overlook this, you will find a first class golf course.

The course was excellent except for the condition of the Greens, difficult course for the high handicappers, and we had a lady play with us that struggled to reach the fairway with her tee shots always putting her in trouble.
Wouldn't recommend it for the high handicap but a lovely course, would love to play again.

Really tough for society golfers with handicaps above 14 especially when the wind blows like it did on tuesday. We all struggled but the course is amazing. Better played the second time round I think when you know where the ball goes...you hope! It's a hard walking course...best get a buggy or electric trolley!
Fantastic staff and superb greens.

Big course and a big welcome. The unassuming drive into the course does not prepare you for what awaits. A well appointed modern clubhouse with excellent facilities and great views across the opening and closing holes. Excellent practice facilities adjacent to the clubhouse. Driving range, chipping green, putting green. A warm welcome from the professional and all staff whether catering or bar making the visitor feel as though their patronage is valued and a genuine sense that they all know what you are about to experience on the course. There is an excellent half way house where food can be preordered from the seventh tee by intercom so it's ready when you complete the hole. A nice touch and tasty bacon sandwich. In the clubhouse I can heartily recommend the club sandwich but ensure this is partaken after the round as you may not want to go out if eaten before. Friendly members complete the welcome and are always keen to hear of your experience and provide a knowing smile when you can't help but enthuse about their course. Then there is the experience. Each hole has it's own character but all fit into the whole. A very strategic course where a drive into the correct position gives the best approach to large undulating greens. The bunkering is spectacular with the Colt signature heather adorning most of the traps. You must bring your “A” game to score well but the course is still enjoyable if not quite on form. Punishments are strict but not penal. You may not like the lie you've found with an errant shot but in general you will have a shot. The one part of your game that must be on song is the putting. The greens are fast and undulating and a deft touch is required to avoid the three putt. Ensure you are confident from 4 feet because these are generally the tap-in lengths. The course is laid out on a vast expanse of natural heathland and makes you feel part of something bigger. Millionaire golf? Yes in feeling but not in price. A must play on any visit to the area.
