What the club says: The challenging Championship course was designed in 1932 and has the feel of a long established and challenging course. If you don’t feel quite up to the demands of the 9 hole course or the Championship course, why not try the 18 hole Falconwood course that will test your golfing skills.
I needed to be in the area on Sunday and was looking for a cheap round. The Championship course was pretty busy, and I was sent over to Falconwood. After reading reviews I was expecting the worse but was pleasantly surprised. The course is ideal for beginners with fairly open fairways. I'd read poor reviews of the greens, but they appeared to have been doing a lot of repair work, and you could tell where spots had been replanted. However they were consistent and very soft. I saw very few bare spots on fairways, and my only real issue was with the state of the teeboxes.
Regarding other features, if you're on foot, the lack of a bar and changeroom is a slight pain, as it's an uphill walk back to the main clubhouse across the road. however the shop at Falconwood had good prices, and the young woman working there was very helpful. Overall it seems they are definitely working on upgrading their offer. I would definitely play again,

Played 2pm on a sunny Friday afternoon for only £10 each - so comments are in context.
Course virtually empty so fast rate of play.
But greens mostly in poor state with big untreated bare patches, no bunker rakes, no ball cleaners. Some vandalism. One flag missing.
But it was cheap and quick

Very good course, you wouldn't think it so close to the city, with a lovely outlook very well looked after. and worth a second visit.

Shorter course than most. Good value for money. Tees a bit chewed up. Greens not too bad.
, need to plot your way around, well worth a visit.

Course was playing pretty well. Tee boxes not in good shape. Players etiquette is shocking. Stuck behind a 3 ball all day hitting numerous mulligans, trolleys on greens etc.
Good course, challenging for a high handicapper but very enjoyable.
